Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Aid Director to lead our institution's financial aid operations with enthusiasm and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the administration of student financial aid programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. Your leadership will empower students to access the educational opportunities they deserve while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our financial aid processes. Duties Manage the entire financial aid lifecycle, including application processing, award packaging, disbursement, and reconciliation in accordance with Title IV regulations and institutional policies. Lead and supervise a team of financial aid staff, fostering a collaborative environment focused on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement. Oversee the administration of federal and state financial aid programs using student information systems such as PeopleSoft or similar software platforms. Ensure adherence to all educational regulatory requirements, including Title IV compliance, financial regulatory standards, and school policy guidelines. Collaborate with admissions, registrar, and student services departments to facilitate seamless student data management within student information systems and student databases. Conduct regular audits of financial aid files to verify accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information while handling complex loan processing tasks. Develop and implement training programs for staff on educational administrative software like Ellucian or equivalent systems to optimize operational efficiency. Analyze financial data to prepare reports that support institutional decision-making and demonstrate compliance with financial regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in educational funding policies, including updates in federal regulations and new funding opportunities. Provide exceptional customer service by guiding students through the application process, answering inquiries promptly, and resolving issues effectively.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial aid experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, including Title IV programs. Experience with financial aid management systems and student information systems. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Skills Extensive knowledge of accounting principles related to financial aid administration and financial analysis techniques. Proficiency with student information systems such as PeopleSoft or Ellucian Banner for managing student records and financial data. Strong understanding of Title IV regulations, federal loan processing procedures, and educational compliance standards. Experience with educational administrative software and student database management tools to streamline operations. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external agencies while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. Proven leadership abilities in team management, training staff on complex processes, and fostering a positive work environment. Ability to interpret complex financial data accurately and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and presentations related to financial aid activities. Background in education administration within academic institutions or similar environments is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in handling multiple tasks such as application processing, compliance checks, and audit preparations.
