Job Description
The College of Education at Georgia Southwestern State University invites applications for a 12-month Student Success Coordinator position . The Student Success Coordinator serves as a key member of the College of Education (COE) team, supporting undergraduate students with a focus on online students from admission through graduation. This position focuses on academic advising support, retention initiatives, student engagement, and data tracking, The coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, staff, the administrative unit, and campus partners to ensure students receive the guidance and resources they need to be successful at Georgia Southwestern State University. Responsibilities Provide proactive, student-centered support for COE students, including guidance on academic pathways, program requirements, and university policies. Assist students with scheduling, registration, progression issues, and navigating DegreeWorks or related academic planning tools. Serve as a Success Champion for supported enrollment students in online education programs. Develop and implement strategies that improve student retention, persistence, and graduation rates within the College of Education. Manage, track, and analyze student progress data (in collaboration with the Assessment Director) related to retention, advising, Teacher Education Program admission benchmarks, GPA, field placements, and program completion. Prepare reports for the College of Education as directed by the dean of the College of Education. Provide students with clear guidance on accessing campus resources such as tutoring, counseling, accessibility services, financial aid, and career services. Advocate for student needs within the college and participate in committees or working groups aimed at improving student success. Complete other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Master¿s degree in education, Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related discipline. Experience in student services, academic advising, education, counseling, or a related field. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and positive working relationships with diverse populations. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with teacher education programs or within a college of education. Knowledge of Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements and educator preparation standards. Experience with DegreeWorks, Banner, or other academic planning systems. Demonstrated background in retention initiatives or student success programming.
