To Be Determined Job Description Lewis Central Community School District is looking for Weight Room Supervisors for the 2026-27 school year. These are 1 year, shared contract positions with the contract split to be determined by the Activities Director. Supervision time varies between seasonal activities. Applicant must have a coaching authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners before being considered for this position.
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Athletic Director, a weight room supervisor's primary responsibility is to lead and develop student-athletes to achieve both individual and team success.
Qualifications:
Coaching authorization issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) is mandatory. Previous coaching experience as a coach at the middle school or high school level is preferred. Strong knowledge of the rules and strategies related to the specific sport. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to the overall well-being and development of student-athletes. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Understanding of and adherence to all relevant safety guidelines. Essential Functions Develop and implement effective training programs that focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering their personal and athletic growth. Plan and execute practice sessions, ensuring a balance between skill refinement and overall fitness. Create and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and commitment. Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to promote a supportive and engaging athletic program. Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities. Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state policies, including the rules and regulations set forth by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, Iowa High School Atheltic Association and Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations. Encourage academic achievement and emphasize the importance of balancing academics with athletics. Attend and support/supervise student athletes at competitions, games, and other related events.
Travel Requirements:
A coach is required to travel with team to all related events and in some instance operate a school vehicle to transport student-athletes to events.
