Great Prairie Area Education Agency has an opening for a School Improvement Consultant. 192-day contract (plus 2 orientation days initial year) beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.

2026-2027 Salary Schedule (based on education and experience). Region 1: Albia, Centerville, Chariton, Moravia, Seymour, Wayne. Region 2: Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont, Keota, North Mahaska, Oskaloosa, Oskaloosa Christian, Pekin, Sigourney, Tri-County. Region 3: Cardinal, Davis County, Moulton-Udell, Ottumwa, Ottumwa Christian and Seton Catholic. Region 4 : Fairfield, Maharishi, Mediapolis, Morning Sun, Mt. Pleasant, WACO, Wapello and Winfield-Mt. Union.
Position Overview:
The School Improvement Consultant shall provide consultative services to students, teachers, administrators, and AEA staff on topics such as MTSS, continuous improvement, data-based decision-making, instructional effectiveness, leadership development, and implementation of state and federal initiatives. The consultant will be a member of the agency's School Improvement and Educational Services teams, collaborating with multiple agency personnel to best serve districts. The consultant will provide leadership and support to districts in the areas of strategic planning, instructional improvement, professional learning, implementation support, and organizational effectiveness. The consultant will support best practices through collaboration, facilitation, demonstration, coaching, and feedback.
Qualifications:
Appropriately licensed by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Master's degree Minimum of 4 years teaching experience
Experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal and collaborative skills, teamwork, and excellent written and verbal skills.
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership, coaching, and consultative services to local districts and AEA staff related to school improvement, MTSS, instructional practices, data-based decision-making, and systems change. Assists districts in assessing needs, analyzing data, and designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating continuous improvement plans aligned to district goals and state and federal requirements. Supports educators and leadership teams in the effective use of instructional practices, interventions, progress monitoring, and data to improve student outcomes. Plans, develops, coordinates, and facilitates professional learning opportunities for educators, administrators, leadership teams, and support staff. Supports districts in the implementation and sustainability of evidence-based frameworks, initiatives, and practices designed to improve teaching, learning, and organizational effectiveness. Integrates technology and digital tools to support communication, collaboration, instruction, professional learning, and continuous improvement efforts. Communicates and collaborates effectively with local school districts, agency personnel, the Iowa Department of Education, area education agencies, institutions of higher education, and other educational partners. Demonstrates the ability to organize and manage multiple projects, priorities, and activities while building productive relationships across districts and stakeholder groups. Demonstrates cultural competence and behaviors consistent with the mission, vision, and core values of Great Prairie AEA in all professional interactions and activities. Maintains confidentiality of student, staff, and district information and complies with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and agency policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
