Security sensitive (subject to pre-employment criminal background investigation) FTE 1.0 Description Benefits Description University Housing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale announces openings for the Hall Director position. These are full-time, 12-month, live-in professional positions. Application review will begin after May 15th, 2026, with applications accepted through May 30th, 2026, or until the positions are filled. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Examples of Duties The Hall Director is responsible for the quality of student life in residential facilities ranging from traditional residence halls to an apartment complex. The Hall Director hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates a staff team ranging from 12-16 Resident Assistants. The Hall Director is a member of a dynamic team consisting of Hall Directors, Program Managers Coordinators, Assistant Directors, Associate Directors, and the Director of University Housing and Residence Life. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student staff members. Hold weekly (or biweekly) 1:1s meetings with Senior student staff members to discuss personal, community, and professional issues/concerns, as well as monitoring student wellbeing and development. Lead weekly staff meetings to discuss community and departmental issues/concerns. Support and attend events and activities planned by Student-led, departmental, or campus organizations. Establish, advise, and manage Area Council executive board for your residential area of responsibility. Assist with the management of on-campus student leadership organizations such as National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), Residence Hall Association (RHA), and the Black Togetherness Organization (BTO). Attend weekly area council meetings and leadership organizations' executive board meetings. Work with student staff to develop and promote (floor)- and area

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree by date of start 4 or more semesters or 2 or more years of paraprofessional or professional experience with housing or residence lifePreferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree by date of start Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills Proficiency with MS Office Suite and database software University Counseling and/or Crisis Response experience Housing/Residence life live-on experienceRequired Documents:
