Job Description

POSITION TITLE
Athletics Youth Development Coach
T.I.D.E. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
Assistant Activities Leader/Director of Community Programs SALARY:
$300
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The role involves overseeing a dynamic athletics, sports, and recreation program designed to foster growth for all participants, from beginners to experienced athletes. The successful candidate will create opportunities for a broad range of students to acquire and enhance the skills required to excel as student-athletes in a competitive environment. Continual success will be pursued by aligning with the district's missions and goals. This includes maintaining regular communication and coordination with teachers, parents, athletes, support personnel, and administrative staff.
DUTIES:
Responsible for helping organize activities directed at increasing sport and recreation options and access at the school. Secure any additional help to implement scheduled, on-site activities in partnership with district athletics. Partner with and build relationships with middle school and high school athletic leadership in your neighborhood/partner schools. Communicate use of the facilities and all maintenance issues with the engineering staff as well as the corporation Buildings & Grounds department to ensure safe, quality playing conditions. Recruit coaches when necessary. Help manage the athletic site and infrastructure during the school year. Fundraise for and manage the athletics department budget with the approval of administration. Run parent meetings if necessary for all sports and communicate on a regular basis with parents about changes or concerns. (Website, Lion's Roar, Dialer, etc.) Help recruit, improve and maintain quality student-athletes within the school. Athletes are expected to be strong students in the classroom, behave appropriately, and gain skill development for academics, athletics and life. Help distribute and manage any paperwork for communicating, organizing and reporting. Arrange for any additional support staff needed for afterschool athletic and sport related events. The athletic coordinator should strive for improvement through increased knowledge, skill development, and taking advantage of opportunities available for athletic coordinator growth. Must work with a variety of individuals and stakeholders in order to maintain and improve the programs. Understand and apply SBCSC Code of Conduct for students participating in sport and athletic activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university Coaching experience (preferred) CPR/First Aid Certified and AED Trained (preferred) Must have reliable transportation Excellent computer skills Effective leadership and oral/written communication skills Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must hold a valid drivers' license and a vehicle in good working condition. Ability to lift 40 lbs., stoop, bend and stand for long periods of time on a hard surface. Must be patient with children, which can be difficult sometimes. Able to withstand changes in temperature, occasional smoke, steam and heat and work in a confined area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking. Routinely requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects and equipment. Must work indoors and outdoors regardless of the weather Must work long and sometimes irregular hours Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to handle stress. Must work regularly scheduled hours.
