Job Description
The Resident Director is a full-time, 12 month live-in professional staff member with the Residence Life Department. Within Residence Life, this position focuses on enhancing the quality of life of students in the assigned residential area, fostering community, being attentive to safety and security of residents and assisting with facility operations. This position will work daily with Residence Life. It is crucial that an individual can relate well to others and handle administrative responsibilities. This position requires an individual who is flexible to assume a variety of roles and responsibilities. The duties and responsibilities for this position include the following. Developing an environment conducive to the academic, social, and personal success to each student Supervision of a diverse residential campus of students Supervision and training of RA staff Recruitment of RA staff Developing Educational/Social Programming in assigned area Monitor maintenance concerns Maintain accurate and up to date records of residents and files Active member of Student Services/Residence Life Team Maintain regular office hours in the Residence Life Department Assist in housing processes Participate in On-Call Schedule and Weekend Duty Capable of responding to various issues and emergency situations Participate and volunteer with various Residence Life/Student Services operational needs and services Some weekends may be required Other duties as assigned. Basic computer skills Education and Experience The position requires the minimum amount of education, field of study or area of training, specific skills, and/or experience listed below. Bachelor's Degree required Some experience may be substituted for educational requirements at the discretion of the hiring manager Supervisory Responsibility The position supervises the positions listed below.
