Reporting to the Senior Director, the Assistant to the Senior Director provides high-level administrative and operational support to ensure the effective functioning of the Olinde Career Center. This role manages complex scheduling, coordinates meetings and events, and facilitates communication across leadership and staff. The Assistant to the Senior Director plays a key role in organizing priorities and supporting strategic initiatives while ensuring departmental leadership time and resources are aligned with the Olinde Career Center's highest priorities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE
Provides administrative and operational support to the Senior Director including calendar management and supports the planning and coordination of office-wide events. Liaise with faculty, campus partners, academic departments, and employers to promote career development and advance the Ready to Roar career readiness proficiencies.

Strengthen Operational Effectiveness Across the Department The Assistant to the Senior Director plays a critical role in creating the structure, organization, and coordination that allows the department to operate efficiently at the highest level. Through building strong systems, follow-through, and proactive support, the Assistant will help create an environment where work moves forward with greater clarity, accountability, and effectiveness and increases the capacity of leadership to focus on strategic initiatives, student impact, and relationship building Improve Communication and Coordination Among Stakeholders The Assistant serves as a central point of coordination that helps maintain clear, timely, and professional communication across staff, campus partners, employers, and external stakeholders. By streamlining the flow of information, organizing follow-up actions, and ensuring alignment across projects and initiatives, the Assistant to the Senior Director will strengthen collaboration and help move work forward more efficiently across the organization.

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PRIORITIES

ABOUT THE LSU OLINDE CAREER CENTER
Our team assists students and alumni in choosing careers, obtaining career-related work experiences, developing job search skills, and securing employment or admission to graduate or professional school. In addition to major and career coaching, our office houses student employment, and student financial management services focused on budgeting and managing debt. In each of these areas, our work is guided by three priorities: commitment to quality, communicating a sense of home to students, and building programs and experiences with everyone in mind. These priorities inspire our work toward improving the career outcomes of students and building a career ecosystem that integrates career development throughout the student experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Senior Director Support (50%) Manage and coordinate the Senior Director's calendar, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements. Serve as primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on behalf of Senior Director. Support meeting preparation on behalf of the Senior Director, including agenda development, briefing materials, and follow-up actions. Provide administrative support for initiatives and projects led by the Senior Director. Office Support (40%) Coordinate departmental and office-specific meetings, events, and workshops, including logistics, scheduling, and communications. Provide administrative support for strategic planning activities, including scheduling sessions and organizing materials. Assist with tracking and maintaining progress on Support daily office operations to ensure an organized, efficient, and professional environment. Assist with internal communications and coordination across team within the Olinde Career Center. Quality Control (5%) Ensure every aspect of the work exude a high degree of quality and troubleshoot any problems as they arise. Embrace and execute the marginal gains approach and seek to improve the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in the department for continuous improvement every academic year. Other Duties as Assigned (5%) Other duties as assigned by the Senior Director and Leadership Team. This includes but is not limited to: efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree Minimum of one year of professional work experience. LSU values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply— a degree is not required as long as the candidate meets the required years of experience specified in the job description.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in higher education administration, college student development, college student personnel administration, or a closely related field. Experience working in a university career services office.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
