Albert Hayle, Athletic Director Position Summary The Athletics Game Day Student Assistant is an entry-level student employment position that supports Roxbury Community College home athletic events and day-to-day Athletics operations. Students assist with game-day preparation, event operations, scoreboard and game-clock functions, setup and breakdown, and other assigned Athletics support activities. Federal Work-Study Responsibilities Assist with weekday, on-campus preparation of signs, tables, seating areas, materials, and approved game-day spaces. Organize and distribute approved event materials and supplies under Athletics staff direction. Assist with basic check-in, attendance, and routine administrative support for on-campus events. Support post-event collection, organization, and storage of materials. Report facility, equipment, crowd, or safety concerns to Athletics/Reggie Lewis staff. FWS duties do not include off-campus events, independent game operations, officiating, or Learn & Earn experiential assignments.

Job Requirements:

Federal Work-Study Eligibility Currently enrolled at Roxbury Community College for the 2026-2027 academic year. Have an active Federal Work-Study award and sufficient remaining FWS eligibility before beginning work. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) in accordance with institutional and financial-aid requirements. Complete all required student-employment and payroll documentation before beginning work. Work only the approved FWS schedule and duties assigned by the designated RCC supervisor. Required Qualifications Must be currently enrolled at RCC and meet the eligibility requirements for the assigned student employment funding source. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to multitask in an active event environment. Reliable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts. Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with Athletics staff and other student employees. Ability to lift and move at least 10 pounds as required for assigned event-support tasks. Professional conduct and willingness to learn game-day procedures and equipment.

Federal Work-Study Compliance Notes This FWS assignment is part-time, on-campus student employment and is contingent upon continued Federal Work-Study eligibility and available award funding. FWS students may perform only the duties identified for the FWS assignment and approved by the supervisor; Learn & Earn responsibilities are not interchangeable with FWS duties. Students and supervisors are responsible for monitoring scheduled hours so the student does not exceed the approved FWS award or institutional work-hour limits. Timesheets must accurately reflect hours actually worked and be approved by the designated supervisor through the College's approved timekeeping process. Student Learning & Professional Development Outcomes Develop foundational event-operations and customer-service skills. Build teamwork, communication, reliability, and time-management skills. Gain experience supporting athletic events and campus operations. Develop familiarity with scoreboard, game-clock, setup, breakdown, and event-support procedures. Practice appropriate escalation and communication in a fast-paced work environment. Funding & Scheduling Structure 2 Federal Work-Study placement(s) are authorized for this role. Work is limited to the approved Federal Work-Study duties and schedule. The position is subject to the student's available FWS award and RCC student-employment work-hour limits, with a maximum of 18.5 hours per week. Scope of Student Role Student employees provide operational and event support under Athletics supervision. They do not independently manage athletic events, supervise professional staff, make competition or officiating decisions, or assume duties reserved for coaches, officials, athletic administrators, or other authorized personnel. Supervision & Performance The Athletics Game Day Student Assistant reports to Albert Hayle, Athletic Director, or designated Athletics staff. Students receive training on game-day procedures, equipment use, customer service, safety, role boundaries, and department expectations, along with ongoing supervision and feedback. Advancement Strong performers may become candidates for future intermediate Athletics operations, team-support, event-leadership, or other campus employment opportunities as available.
