POSITION STATUS
This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.
SALARY:
$108,634.38 - 114,134.00 annually
STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Director of Development and Alumni Affairs works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer to plan, implement, and evaluate fundraising strategies that strengthen philanthropic investment in Bristol Community College.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Administration Oversee management and data hygiene of DonorView and other office databases to ensure accurate donor records, segmentation, and reporting. Attend and support implementation of Foundation Board meetings and all Development and Foundation events, as directed by the CAO. Prepare fundraising reports, dashboards, and data analysis for the CAO, President, and Foundation Board. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports a commitment to service excellence. Fundraising Support the CAO in designing and implementing a comprehensive strategic fundraising plan, in collaboration with Marketing & Communications, to advance institutional priorities. Lead the annual Bristol Fund and other annual giving campaigns, ensuring donor segmentation, appeals, and stewardship plans are executed effectively. Partner with the CAO to meet annual fundraising goals and ensure smooth functioning across the Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Corporate Giving, Planned Giving, and Prospect Research. Cultivate and solicit individual and corporate donors, with a focus on building long-term philanthropic partnerships. Conduct prospect research and maintain a pipeline of major donor prospects to support the CAO and President in cultivation and solicitation. Collaborate with faculty, deans, and program leadership to identify funding opportunities that align with Bristol's mission and donor interests. Implement and direct a Planned Giving program, including development of promotional materials and donor outreach strategies. Assist the CAO in the planning and implementation of any capital campaign initiatives. Events and Donor Engagement Oversee all Foundation fundraising and stewardship events, including but not limited to the Bristol Awards, annual Golf Tournament, Gala, and the Wolfson Speaker Series. Ensure all events are well-coordinated, mission-driven, and designed to deepen relationships with donors and community partners. Secure sponsorships and underwriting for events by cultivating corporate partners and local businesses. Work with the CAO and the Marketing & Communications team to ensure event branding, invitations, and collateral materials reflect Bristol's values and goals. Track event performance metrics and return on investment (ROI) to inform future planning. Alumni Affairs Serve as the primary liaison to the Alumni Association, supporting its leadership, volunteer recruitment, committee development, and engagement in advancing the college's institutional priorities. Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that strengthens lifelong relationships between Bristol and its graduates, increases alumni participation, and builds a sustainable culture of alumni philanthropy. Develop targeted alumni giving initiatives in coordination with the college's annual fund, including first-time donor acquisition, recurring giving, leadership giving, and strategies to increase alumni donor retention. Collaborate with Career Services, academic departments, and other college partners to create opportunities for alumni to serve as mentors, guest speakers, internship hosts, and career networking resources for current students. Develop targeted alumni communications, including newsletters, digital campaigns, alumni profiles, and success stories that promote alumni pride and highlight Bristol's impact. Identify and cultivate alumni with the interest and capacity to support Bristol through financial contributions, volunteer leadership, corporate partnerships, and planned giving. Establish and monitor key performance indicators for alumni relations, including alumni participation, event attendance, volunteer engagement, alumni giving rates, donor retention, and growth in alumni contact information. Marketing and Communications Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to create and distribute compelling fundraising materials, including newsletters, donor reports, campaign appeals, and the annual President's Report. Oversee digital and print communications related to fundraising, ensuring consistent messaging and branding across channels. Utilize social media, email and digital engagement tools to expand Bristol's philanthropic reach. Support stewardship and donor recognition through storytelling that highlights impact and inspires giving. Other Duties Promote the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda through the application of related best practices throughout all job functions. Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree). Minimum of four (4) years of fundraising or related experience. Demonstrated managerial experience with direct reports. Demonstrated proficiency with Office 365 applications, including Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Demonstrated proficiency with virtual and social media tools to fundraise and increase the digital footprint of an organization's brand; including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Demonstrated experience managing fundraising campaigns, such as but not limited to an annual fund or capital campaign. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which may be demonstrated through marketing, stewardship, and various fundraising materials with written content. Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required. Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends. The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience working with a donor database/CRM Demonstrated experience working in fundraising and/or marketing and communications in a higher education environment. Demonstrated history of cultivating and soliciting a portfolio of donors; including proven ability to solicit and close gifts of $25,000 or greater. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing alumni engagement programs, managing alumni or volunteer networks, and building relationships that translate into increased institutional engagement and philanthropic support. Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity and student success practices. Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
