Job Description
Job Summary The Dean of Arts & Sciences oversees the administration and supervises andsupports the academic instruction in the following areas: English and Humanities, Communication, Math, Sciences, Digital Arts and MediaDesign (DAMD), Art, Music, GED/ABE, and labs for Science, Art and DAMD. The dean oversees student appeals; planning, resource allocation,faculty hiring and evaluation, curriculum development, scheduling, course and program assessments. The Dean provides visionaryleadership, strategic oversight, and direction to advance the college's strategic goals. The Dean represents the Arts & Science areas on theVice-President's staff. Due to the need of interaction with students, employees and the college community this position requiresin-person presence. This position is eligible for telework based on Telework policy. Essential JobFunctions Ensure that all Arts & Sciences Programs are in compliance with State, Federal, and otherregulations. In accordance with the CAO, faculty and staff, recommend academic/instructional policies and procedures for Arts & Sciences andnon-credit programs which include curriculum, course scheduling, faculty and adjunct assignments, evaluations and promotions and contractrenewals. Ensure that all policies and procedures are reviewed and updated in a timely manner. Ensure maintenance of records/files of coursesyllabi and program curricula submitted by faculty and approved by the Academic Affairs Committee. Demonstrates the ability to buildcollaborative relationships with diverse faculty members, identify and address their needs to support student success initiatives and fosterpositive educational outcomes. Ensure Arts & Sciences course and program assessments are completed within the prescribedtimeframes. Provide oversight and leadership in the development of the Arts & Sciences operational budgets by collecting,consolidating and prioritizing department inputs. Monitors expenditures monthly for reconciliation. Provides day-to-day leadershipand coaching to staff and faculty; ensures cross-training/coverage as needed within areas, and supports professionaldevelopment Supervise the recruitment and hiring for staff and faculty positions. Conduct Performance Evaluation reviews in supportof the Performance Management Program. Conduct and review faculty evaluations for all areas in division Participate inpublic relations activities for the College. Oversee the development and submission of mandatory reporting, and accreditationreports.
