Campus Center Aquatics & Operations Manager Position Type Professional Staff Faculty Track Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Biddeford, ME Description The Aquatics & Operations Manager provides leadership and expertise in the operation of a multi-use Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility within the Office of Campus Wellness & Recreation. Through community building and program development, the incumbent will meet revenue expectations by creating relevant programming for the campus population, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, supporting and training student employees, and overseeing the daily operations of the Campus Center and Aquatics Facility. Provide emergency preparedness training and protocol education to Campus Center staff. Manage membership and program transactions, waiver intake, and online registration processes. Coordinate facility scheduling and space reservations, ensuring equitable access for student organizations, academic programs, conferences, and other campus partners. Build and maintain positive relationships with Campus Services, community members, and internal partners to support effective facility operations and program delivery. Maintain and update operating policies and procedures in accordance with University, state, and federal regulations. Assist with facility planning and oversee maintenance, renovation, and operational improvement projects Aquatics Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student aquatics staff, including lifeguards and swim instructors. Provide emergency response training and promote a culture of safety and accountability. Monitor staff certifications and coordinate certification and recertification opportunities. Oversee pool operations, including water quality monitoring, routine maintenance, and long-term facility improvements in collaboration with Campus Services. Develop and implement aquatics programs that support student recreation, wellness, and community engagement. Meet or exceed revenue goals through swim lessons, certification courses, facility rentals, and other community programming. Manage relationships, contracts, registration processes, and promotional efforts for aquatic programs and external facility users. General Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight during facility operations, programs, and special events, responding to emergencies as needed. Conduct annual reviews of safety protocols and ensure compliance with applicable risk management requirements. Collaborate with Student Affairs staff and other University partners to coordinate programs, address operational needs, and share information. Compile and analyze data to support reporting and decision-making. Serve on campus-wide committees and support major University events, including Orientation, Homecoming, Accepted Students Days, and Commencement. Participate in the on-call duty rotation with Student Engagement professional staff. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in recreation or sport management, business administration, or a related field preferred, and two to three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of the role. Pool Operator Certification preferred. Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and Lifeguard Training (LGT) certifications required; Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred. Strong customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills. Experience organizing, maintaining, and managing records and information systems. Proficiency with software applications used to support recordkeeping and operational processes. Ability to work effectively with a broad range of University personnel, students, and external organizations. Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required.
