Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Boys Head Varsity Basketball program for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the game, a commitment to athlete development, and the ability to foster a positive and competitive team environment. This seasonal position requires strong leadership skills and a focus on building character and teamwork among student-athletes. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances player skills and team performance.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring effective drills and strategies are employed.
- Prepare the team for competition by analyzing opponents and developing game plans.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth.
- Communicate regularly with players, parents, and school administration regarding team progress and expectations.
- Manage game day operations, including player rotations, strategy adjustments, and post-game evaluations.
- Mentor student-athletes in their academic and personal development, ensuring they maintain eligibility and balance their commitments.
- Collaborate with the athletic department to schedule games, practices, and transportation.
- Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current on coaching techniques and trends in the sport.
- Uphold and enforce all school and district policies regarding athletics and student conduct. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to achieve their best both on and off the court.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season.
- A commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.
