Purpose of Role/Temporary:
Assist with the registration process
Job Duties/Key Responsibilities:
- Answering questions of students that stop in to figure out where they should go or how to get to where they need to be (different parts of the campus).
- Assist students that come into the lab to learn My Backpack and register for approved classes and assist students in navigating My Backpack , educating them in the many aspects of My Backpack.
- Assisting students in picking out days and times for their classes, printing schedules, locating bookstore information, showing them how to contact their advisor in My Backpack , and changing their passwords.
- Assisting students with their User Profile and either changing or confirming, programs of study, addresses, phone numbers and e-mails.
- Answering the phone and assisting students with registration information.
- Answer emails and process requests that come into the reg.center email account whether it is to register, withdraw, or answer general questions for students.
- Assisting students in filling out Class Schedule Worksheets or assisting them with emails to reg.center, if necessary.
- Doing manual drops or registrations that must be completed with a worksheet/signature or an email for a multitude of reasons. (Prerequisite waivers, low GPA, late registration,
- guest student, Mott early college, Over 18 credits, etc.).
- If the student is registering with a prerequisite waiver, transfer prerequisite waiver, late registration form or other special circumstances, enter the details of those circumstances into the STDT in Datatel.
Many times when students are attempting to register, they may have a PERC or something else that is preventing them from registering. Researching & investigating (troubleshooting) what is preventing the student from registering and assisting the student reach a resolution in order to ultimately register the student.
During less busy times, "collections" work is performed. Working on collections involves going through old (purging after 7 years from the time of the registration activity) worksheets and looking them up on Datatel. If the student is in collections, keeping the worksheet in case documentation is needed in the future. All worksheets that are not kept are shredded.
Assists & supports students in a professional, friendly, fast-paced and customer focused environment via email, phone, virtually and in person
Performs comprehensive registration functions
Resolves complex inquiries, in a timely manner; identifies obstacles for student success (Researches, Analyzes & Resolves)
Interprets and applies extensive knowledge of applicable policies & procedures
Ensures students are able to navigate the enrollment process seamlessly & be onboarded with as little complications as possible
Informs & explains college policies & procedures as they relate to the onboarding process to students/parents, staff & faculty
Participates in daily Huddles with a CORE group of employees to discuss & resolve obstacles students may be experiencing
Keeps the Registration Center Lab tidy, clean & sanitized
Other duties as assigned
