Student Life Coordinator

SUMMARY:

A full time staff member within the Division of Student Affairs who works with all members in the division and on campus. The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of student life and engagement activities for the Lawrence Tech campus and community. Leads in creating a welcoming, inclusive, engaging campus environment, which fosters student involvement, satisfaction, and retention.

include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Directly responsible for the coordination of programs and activities for students that are fun, engaging and educational. Collaborates with the offices within Student Affairs and other relevant campus offices to plan and implement programs for the university, students, and community. Fosters a vision, strategic plan, and implements processes and procedures to insure that the needs of students, faculty/staff, and constituents are met through activities, programs, and events. Plan and execute large scale campus-wide events. In collaboration with student organizations and relevant campus departments, plans events and activities for University wide initiatives, such as First Year Ignite, Welcome Week, Student Leadership Conference, Homecoming, De-Stress Fest, Winterfest, etc. Creates campus awareness/educational programs for sexual assault, suicide, etc. Develop policies for campus and student groups as needed, including creating a campus posting policy. Manage the student assistant staff for the Division of Student Affairs. Develop programs specifically for commuter student population, including assisting with the upkeep of the Commuter Student Lounge. Assist in awareness and coordination of the Interfaith lounge. Responsible for budgeting events effectively. Support the development of campus traditions. Actively work to improve services. Campus Activities Board Develop a student Campus Activities Board (CAB). Leads CAB in the design and implementation of campus events which are entertaining, fun, and interactive. Develops both passive and active programming, lead efforts to develop events which foster inclusiveness and cultural awareness, as well as initiatives which provide student learning and development opportunities. Greek Life Assist the Greek Life Advisor, the Director of Residence Life, by encouraging and promoting competent student leadership, effective self-governance and responsibility for within each organization. Assist with recruitment and retention, leadership, risk management/Anti-Hazing and policy development for Greek Life. Assist with Greek Week and Greek Day events when necessary. Student Government/Student Leadership Assists the Student Government Advisor as needed and by encouraging leadership on campus. Assist in the leadership development and engagement of our student leaders, and campus as a whole. Serves as resource for student organization advisors. Create a student organization advisor information/training session. Establishes and fosters the evolution of a leadership development program for student organization leaders. Coordinates student organization leadership conference opportunities, as budgets allow. First Year Orientation Program/ First Year Ignite Assists in the planning, development and implementation of sessions/events related to First Year Ignite orientation program. Hires and trains student leaders; prepares schedule of events; serves as primary contact on campus for First Year Ignite activities/contacts/vendors, etc. Work to continue to evolve orientation to reflect campus needs. Vendors/Contracts Serves as primary contact for campus entertainers and presenters related to Student Life. Negotiates contracts and makes arrangements regarding accommodations for entertainers/presenters. Ensures that the University's obligation regarding arrangements and accommodations for entertainers and presenters are fulfilled. Social Media Manages student engagement web site, and all social media accounts, as needed. Coordinates preparation and publishing of student events calendar. Collaborates with relevant campus departments in promotion of events and activities. Other Responsibilities Responsible for staying current with university policies and procedures. Including, but not limited to, Title IX Policies, Student Code of Conduct, and Academic Honor Code, Campus Security Authority Protocols, Suicide Prevention, etc. Participates in the preparation and implementation of university activities related to Family Orientation, Athletic events, Student Awards, cultural events, banquets, etc. Evaluate opportunities for enhancing and supporting service-learning efforts across campus. Collaborate with the Office of the Dean of Students on special projects that promote student success and student leadership development. Participate in campus events, in order to support the University community and provide a leadership presence. Serve on university committees as needed. Participates in professional development opportunities, as appropriate. Foster an environment and culture that promotes respect, responsibility and trust.

Pay:

$40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
