The Director of Student Engagement manages all functions in the Office of Student Engagement and contributes as a member ofa highly collaborative Student Experience staff. The Student Experience Division comprises all Student Life and Student Success functions atthe College. The Director of Student Engagement is a full-time, optional live-in position that facilitates student engagementincluding campus activities, student organizations, and fraternity and sorority life, student leadership development programs, andcurricular based programming to create a vibrant, active campus life that attracts, enriches, and retains students. The Director of StudentEngagement intentionally structures opportunities to facilitate student involvement and to stimulate student leadership to create anexciting campus community. The Director of Student Engagement takes primary responsibility for developing all phases of Wildcat Welcome (newstudent orientation), creating a comprehensive and progressive co-curricular student leadership development program for studentorganizations, fraternities, and sororities, supporting residence hall programming, and serving as the primary advisor to the CampusProgramming Council (CPC).
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the preparation, implementation, and management ofbudgets related to Fraternity and Sorority Life, student organizations, campus activities programming, leadership development programs, andorientation programming in accordance with institutional guidelines. Communicates department goals, policies, and proceduresclearly and respectfully to all segments of the College community and communicates frequently with students regarding services and programs. Reviews all contracts for accuracy for the department prior to sending to the Administration and Finance Office for processing. Partner with the Administrative Assistant who approves student requests for events, use of facilities/materials, and for accessinginstitutional services. Create the schedule of events for all aspects of new student orientation and coordinate reservations forall new students for orientation weekend. Oversee the hiring, training, and evaluation of Wildcat Welcome Leaders. Support hiringand training needs for Hill Kickoff (summer registration) days. Support the Vice President for Student Experience with advisingthe Student Government Association (SGA). Responsible for developing a unified calendar of all campus programs and activities toensure a robust, exciting out of the classroom experience. Those activities and organizations should incorporate large scale programs whichengage large numbers of students. Ensure that all campus tradition events continue to be executed and evolve to today's student(e.g., Wildcat Welcome, Week of Welcome, Culver's Got Talent, Hillstock, etc.) Supports and encourages the efforts of campus-basedprogramming organizations (e.g., CPC). Develop protocols and resources to support student organizations with their programminggoals. Coordinate and lead the training, development and advising of the Interfraternity, Pan-Hellenic, and National Pan-HellenicCouncil officers. Responsible for all aspects of Fraternity and Sorority Life including recruitment, risk management, scholarship,and neighborhood relations for 9 chapters. Monitor risk management procedures for each of the chapters, making sure they areconsistent with best practices, national requirements, and the College's risk management procedures. Provide day-to-day managementof the college-owned fraternity and sorority chapter house operations in conjunction with Residence Life. Oversee the facilitiesmanagement and event programming within the Gladys Crown Student Center, Cat's Pause (campus lounge area), and the Lab (campus's coffeeshop). Partner with Dining Services to ensure there is adequate programming in the dining halls throughout the year. Coordinate leadership development opportunities where students can learn and understand leadership styles and strategies. Serve asthe primary facility manager for the Gladys Crown Center. Support operations for the Mabee Center, which may include management ofthe facility. Develop and execute and Emerging Leaders program. Provide support for effective and ongoing recognitionprograms for student organizations; main liaison for student organizations when they might need support or assistance in growth anddevelopment. Supervise the Esports coach, ensuring all recruitment and retention goals are met. Develop a robustprogramming curriculum to ensure that Culver-Stockton is graduating well-rounded students who are prepared to serve their communities andsucceed professionally. Manage the Wildcat Connect software and mobile application. Assess all programs and develop anannual report which specifies fraternity and sorority membership, student organization membership, program attendance, and related learningoutcomes. Is part of the administrative on-call rotation on nights and weekends and when on call must be available to respond toemergencies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in College Student Personnel or relatedHigher Education degree preferred. 4 years of experience working with college-aged students in related field (graduate experiencein higher education is acceptable). Budget management and supervision experience. PC skills including, but not limitedto, word processing and spreadsheets, knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher,Internet and e-mail.
