Posting Details Position Information Position Title Assistant or Associate Dean Job Description Missouri Western State University invites applications for the position of Assistant (or Associate) Dean in the College of Business and Professional Studies. This leadership role is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, collaborative professional with a background in business and marketing , passionate about working at an open-access, student-centered, applied-learning university.
Position Overview:
The Assistant (or Associate) Dean provides strategic, operational, and academic support to the Dean while working closely with faculty, staff, students, and external partners. The position plays a key role in advancing enrollment, strengthening industry engagement, supporting accreditation and assessment efforts, and promoting the College's programs through effective communication and marketing strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Dean in the administration and strategic leadership of the College of Business and Professional Studies Teach 1-2 Business classes as needed Collaborate with faculty and department chairs on curriculum development, assessment, and AACSB accreditation initiatives Lead or support marketing, recruitment, and outreach efforts to promote College programs and increase enrollment Foster relationships with industry partners, alumni, and community stakeholders to enhance experiential learning opportunities and represent the College externally Assist with faculty support, student advising initiatives, and academic scheduling Analyze data related to enrollment, retention, and student success to inform decision-making
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Visionary leadership in support of teaching excellence and student learning, experience leading change and innovation utilizing strategic planning and continuous improvement. Success as a creative, innovative, energetic instructional leader with a strategic, collaborative, and forward-thinking approach. Experience as an academic leader committed to continued improvement. The ability to creatively problem-solve and make decisions that incorporate data, experience, and collaboration with faculty and staff. A commitment to open and transparent division-level financial processes and communication. Skill in developing and evaluating academic programs and assessing student learning outcomes. Excellent organizational skills in planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Effective written and oral communication skills with various groups. A proven ability to build consensus, handle conflict, and manage change, and to work effectively with all students, faculty, and staff. Required Qualifications Doctorate in Business, Marketing, or a closely related field Professional or academic experience in business and/or marketing Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills Experience with marketing, recruitment, branding, or external engagement Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, student-focused environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education administration and program growth Knowledge of accreditation and assessment processes Experience working with industry partnerships or applied learning initiatives Strong understanding of the regional workforce and economic development needs
Physical Demands Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. FLSA Exempt Additional Demands Possible occasional travel required Possible night and weekend work Hours of Work Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm May require some evenings or weekend hours.
