About the Interventionist Position Reporting directly to the school Principal and working collaboratively as a member of the school team and MTSS Team, an Interventionist works to create and enhance a culture of excellence where high expectations and results are the norm. Interventionists are responsible for ensuring all students are making significant academic gains through direct work with students and supporting teachers to maximize their work with students. Required Licensure/Certification Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree in Education preferred Current state certifications with appropriate licenses. Special Education or Reading Specialist certification preferred. Required Training & Experience Minimum two years successful teaching experience, with proven track record of raising student achievement scores Have a complete understanding of, experience in, and commitment to a Multi-Tiered System Structure (MTSS) Experience in the development, preparation, and execution of instructional to meet the need of diverse learnersEssential Functions:
Student Support (approximately 80%) Providing explicit, evidence-based instruction and intensive interventions to individuals and/or small groups for the purpose of improving literacy and math achievement levels. Developing differentiated instruction techniques to ensure students are appropriately engaged and challenged, as well as to accommodate various learning styles, personality styles, and the need for physical movement. Modeling the use of intervention strategies, through their use in the classroom, to teachers. Assisting in the progress monitoring of students involved in the MTSS process to ensure that interventions are implemented with fidelity and show student progress using graphs and charts. Administrative functions (approximately 20%) Collaborating with colleagues to continuously improve personal practice, classroom instruction, assessment, and student achievement, as well as supporting the overall goals and mission of the school and district. Providing leadership in MTSS meetings and analyzing data to understand students' needs in order to select and recommend evidence-based instructional interventions to implement. Initiating and maintaining timely communication with parents/guardians concerning student progress. Working collaboratively with parents/guardians, families, and other members of the community to involve them in academic activities and supporting the success of a diverse student population. Serving as a member of the school's Leadership Team. Assisting in gathering and analyzing pertinent data (academic and behavioral) on struggling students by conducting classroom observations, interviewing teachers, parents, and the student and gathering student history through student achievement data, work samples, and data. Attending district level training and meetings. Performing other related duties as requested or assigned. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and diagnose root causes. Model continuous improvement, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the application of new learning to help all students achieve.
