The University of Mississippi School of Engineering invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. Candidates must have a PhD in a discipline represented by one of the departments in the School and a record of accomplishment to qualify for appointment as a non-tenure track or tenure track faculty. Candidates must also have experience in developing, delivering, and managing undergraduate engineering curricula.
Job Description:
The Associate Dean position will report to the Dean of the UM School of Engineering. The Associate Dean assists the Dean in carrying out the mission and achieving the vision of the School. The Associate Dean works collaboratively with department chairs and others throughout the University to support the missions of the School and University. The Associate Dean will be responsible for leadership in undergraduate education within the School of Engineering. The incumbent will work closely with the staff in the Engineering Dean's office to coordinate activities that range from recruiting students to ensuring they graduate. Job Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of the Associate Dean include: Overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of undergraduate curricula across engineering and computer science disciplines. Leading program planning and curriculum development. Assisting the department chairs in preparing reports associated with program assessment and ABET accreditation. Interpreting and executing academic policies and regulations of the University and the School. Collaborating with department chairs and faculty to align programs with student learning outcomes and industry needs. Supporting student recruitment, retention, and academic advising initiatives. Coordinating the scholarship awarding process. Overseeing implementation of the First Year Engineering program. Representing the School in academic governance and university-wide committees. Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience.
