Exempt Summary/Objective Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Assistant Director is a professional member of the enrollment team who manages a freshman recruitment territory that will primarily be the northeast United States, reviews and evaluates applications for admission, and represents Lees-McRae College to prospective students and families, as well as school counselors. The Assistant Director must exhibit superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails, texts, and in-person information sessions. The Assistant Director creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, school counselor events, regional interviews, accepted student receptions, and manages recruitment activities in targeted initiatives. The successful candidate will also conduct information sessions for prospective students and families. The Assistant Director must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators and staff. Essential Functions Extensive travel to visit high schools and boarding schools, cover college fairs, host regional programs, and conduct onsite application review days. Promptly respond to phone calls, email and inquiries. Manage outreach to all prospective students and those who have inquired. Manage all activities related to prospective students in a specific territory. Report on recruitment initiatives, including tracking of inquiries, applications, follow-up contacts, campus visits, etc. that allow for the analysis of strategies. Extensive follow-up by maintaining phone, email, written and personal contact with prospective students, families and school personnel. Conduct prospective student meetings and information sessions for families. Evaluate admission applications and make admission decisions or recommendations in a timely fashion, as needed to assist with recruitment efforts. Provide tours of campus if needed. Work closely with financial aid and other offices on campus to provide information students need for enrollment. Provide back-up counseling for financial aid as needed. Coordinate special projects as assigned. Travel to select events both in and out of state, focusing on building connections with incoming students and families. Attend on-campus Open Houses, Scholars Day, Academic Preview Days, Orientations, School Counselor Events, Regional Information Sessions, Accepted Student Receptions, and other Accepted Student events. Participate in Virtual Events, including Webinars and Information Sessions on subjects to include Residential Life, Financial Aid and Billing, Health Services, and other topics necessary for successful enrollment. Work Environment Normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. Also, extensive travel is a requirement where the employee must work in high schools, at college fairs in gymnasiums and other event venues. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. Evening and weekend work will be consistently required. Travel Extensive travel is required and expected. This will include overnight travel. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree One or more years working in admissions or student services at an institution of higher education. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in student services/higher education/student development. Two-plus years working in admissions or student services/student affairs at an institution of higher education Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
