Education/Training•Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Experience•Work requires five (5) years of experience in administering student financial aid programs at a college, university, or private school. In addition, preferred experience includes 3 years related training and/or administrative experience to become familiar with general principles of adult financial literacy education and the design/delivery of educational modules.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
Be Bold. Work Performed Coordinate the development of unique financial literacy training courses and programs by consulting with department heads and students to identify and evaluate specific areas in developing training needs; design and present educational modules with particular focus on debt management. Responsible for ensuring that all programs, and activities comply with university, state, and federal regulations. Working with the FinAid leadership team, develop methodologies that balance the needs of the students and the school's budget. Provide reports to the Office of Medical and Health Professions Education and the LCME related to debt management. Advise students, individually and in groups, regarding financial aid planning, budgeting, and debt management. Provide robust financial literacy program for School of Medicine programs. Perform one-on-one debt management sessions. Work with Financial Aid leadership team to develop and evaluate significant school-based scholarship programs. Assist in the development and implementation of institutional policy with respect to needs analysis. Manage the financial aid appeals process and oversee the appeals committee; provide educational resources related to budgeting and provide one-on-one sessions with students regarding appeal requests. Manage Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid per Federal Regulations; counsel students placed on probation Manage CANVAS Financial Literacy platform as a resource center of topics relevant to students and programs. Design financial literacy/debt management courses for all education programs within the School of Medicine. Develop customized communication strategies for student financial aid information, utilizing system functionality. Designs and evaluates work processes, cross training of staff, and electronic and paper record management, including information systems and data bases, for student financial literacy and debt management. Participate in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assist the Assistant Dean in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan; Participate in formulating and implementing policies and procedures; Identify personnel, institutional and materials needed to accomplish objectives; & Provide input to the annual budgetary requirements for training operations. Understand needs analysis application process, a comprehensive understanding of tax documents, federal regulations to award federal funding, and how institutional funding is determined and awarded. Management of tuition reconciliation for the Doctor of Medicine program; resolve discrepancies and communicate concerns to upper management. Serve on the management team with the Assistant Dean. Coordinates FinAid activities with the leadership and staff of the Office of Admissions and Student Services, to ensure the financial aid functions meet community standards and supports the student recruitment and admissions processes and goals, with a focus on student financial literacy and debt management. Working with the FinAid leadership team, supports the creation and implementation of an academic year calendar that guides the work of the FAO including dates related to admissions, financial aid, status reports and other critical work in the areas of financial literacy and debt management. Supervises and evaluates financial aid service representatives' performance to achieve these goals. Recommend various personnel actions including hiring, performance appraisals, supervising, promotions, transfers, and vacation schedules. Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $63,240.00 to USD $104,040.00.
