$28.74/hour - $38.85/hour This position is part-time, up to 29.5 hours a week. The State of New Hampshire, Department of Education, Division of Learner Support & Bureau of Special Education Support has a part-time vacancy for a Literacy Coach.
Summary:
To plan, develop, coordinate and monitor programs in Local Education Agency (LEA)s to improve literacy instruction and increase reading proficiency as part of the State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP) within the Bureau of Special Education Support, NH Department of Education (NHED); implement state-wide professional development to all LEAs through the implementation of literacy improvement programs statewide.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
B achelor's degree and 3 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 7 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in education, including at least 5 years in special education or teaching K-4 reading.
License/Certification:
1. NH educational certification or special education certification 2. Valid driver's license or access to transportation
Other Requirements:
1. Must cooperate with verification of education credentials by designated Department of Education personnel 2. Must be able and willing to travel statewide

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge in the essential components of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension), evidence-based reading intervention programs, ELA curriculum development and lesson planning, and Language Essentials of Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) coursework . Ability to administer and interpret reading assessments and use data to make informed decisions. Ability to facilitate adult learning and deliver instructional coaching specific to literacy instruction. Knowledge of implementation science.

Responsibilities:
Provides coaching and guidance to LEAs by offering current information and direction to improve literacy initiatives within educational services. Performs technical support to school-based literacy coaches to support instruction, implement curriculum, administer assessments, analyze data, design and implement specialized instruction, and utilize technology. Collaborates with LEAs to develop action plans for implementation of improvement activities. Collects and analyzes literacy data, reviews and revises program competencies, and develops and refines end of program performance assessments to support the work of LEAs. Facilitates, organizes, and participates in site-based leadership team meetings at the LEAs to assist teams in the development and implementation of an effective school-wide literacy plan. Supports capacity building of school-based coaches by offering trainings and professional development to sustain implementation of literacy initiatives. Collaborates with the NHED English Language Arts Education Consultant to develop activities to align with New Hampshire and Federal education literacy initiatives. Reviews LEA grant applications for eligibility and ability to participate. Provides feedback to applicants in accordance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Interprets federal and state legislation and regulations for the purpose of ensuring LEA staff and faculty receive up-to-date education and training aligned with literacy standards. Participates in the Bureau's monitoring program of LEAs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Coordinates and partners on specific projects as needs are identified during communication with and observation of LEAs. Collaborates with the SSIP Evaluator to develop data collection tools in order to assess need and provide coaching and instruction within LEAs. Assists the Administrator of the Bureau of Special Education Support in preparing explanations and testimonies for current educational policies in literacy as needed. Develops resources for the
