Full-Time | 12-Month Position Position Overview We are seeking a qualified and visionary Supervisor of Athletics (K–12) to lead and oversee the district's interscholastic and co-curricular athletic programs. This individual will ensure that athletic offerings align with educational goals, promote student development, and foster a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and excellence. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, organizational expertise, and a student-centered approach to managing and expanding athletic programs across all grade levels. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction for all K–12 interscholastic athletic programs, ensuring alignment with district policies, NJSIAA regulations, and educational objectives. Assure compliance with all laws, rules and regulations associated with national, state, and conference codes Supervise and evaluate coaches, athletic staff, and physical education personnel in collaboration with building administrators. Coordinate athletic schedules, facilities, transportation, and event supervision to ensure safe and efficient operations. Manage the athletic department budget, including equipment purchases, uniforms, facility maintenance, and officials' fees. Oversee student-athlete eligibility, academic compliance, and behavior expectations. Ensure proper training and certification of all athletic personnel, including CPR, first aid, and concussion protocols. Collaborate with community partners, local recreation departments, and booster organizations to support and enhance programs. Promote positive communication and public relations through outreach, media, and school-community partnerships. Ensure equitable access and participation opportunities for all students across programs and schools. Promote athletic programs throughout the district and within the community. Oversee all sports information duties, including, but not limited to, update and compile information for athletic statistical reports and historical records; attend home and designated away events to perform a variety of functions in support of athletic programs including overseeing the press box, and official scoring table to maintain accuracy and integrity of game management personnel; coordinate the compilation of game and season statistics, including the use and training of those working with statistical software; maintain the Athletic web pages and social media channel(s); serve as liaison between coaches and/or student-athletes for all media requests; and coordinating with Public Relations and Marketing for all media guides, news releases, media requests, and publicity of the Athletics programs. Represents the District at meetings, conferences and seminars including, but not limited to, the State of New Jersey and the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) and Conference and provides reports and updates from those areas. Required Qualifications Valid New Jersey Supervisor Certificate. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Sports Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in education or athletic administration. Deep knowledge of NJSIAA policies, athletic compliance, and student-centered programming. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience within a K–12 school setting. Knowledge of playing, officiating, and other sports rules, regulations and practices used in a wide range of sporting competitions. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Working knowledge of sports statistics and desktop publishing software. Equipment operations and uses of scoreboard and public address systems used for sporting events. Current trends and practices in college athletic recruiting. Principles and practices of program planning and management. Research, data compilation, database management, recordkeeping and reporting techniques. ?Drivers License Desired Skills & Attributes Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and teams. Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to equity, inclusivity, and the holistic development of student-athletes. Proven ability to mentor coaches and promote a positive coaching culture. Experience in conflict resolution, community engagement, and program evaluation. Familiarity with athletic scheduling software and digital communication platforms.
