Position Summary The Admin II - Authorization Specialist is responsible for proficiently performing all tasks required for the purpose of insurance verification, benefits and eligibility and prior authorization in a radiology setting. Key Responsibilities Answer incoming calls in a prompt and pleasant manner, in all job capacities. Obtain authorizations and eligibility in a timely manner with comprehensive documentation. Schedule, coordinate, reschedule and confirm patient appointments. Relay necessary messages to staff. Obtain insurance information regarding co-pays, deductibles and percentage payments. Verify patient information and thoroughly document necessary information in RIS system. Inform patients of any balance due. Assist with faxing, printing reports. Question patients regarding prior exams and history and notify them of protocols for scheduled procedure. Conduct or train for proper operation of all equipment. Train and support peers and new team members, sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and ensuring consistency in processes across the department. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Two years previous medical office experience. Ability to do essential duties. Ability to read, understand, speak, write and follow English instructions. Bilingual abilities preferred. Ability to speak clearly and concisely for effective communication. Superior knowledge of authorization/verification process. Knowledge of Nevada insurances.
MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to use excellent communications skills. Ability to manage stress appropriately. Ability to manage time efficiently. Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritizes effectively. Ability to work alone and/or with others effectively. Ability to work in close proximity to others in a distracting environment. Possesses common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
