Job Description:
SUNY Broome Community College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Student Rights and Responsibilities Coordinator in the Dean of Students Office. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Student Development and Dean of Students (AVP/Dean & DOS), the Student Rights and Responsibilities Coordinator supports initiatives and programs related to student conduct, Title IX, community engagement, mentoring, and leadership development. The Coordinator works collaboratively with College divisions and departments, community organizations, local school districts, and other higher education institutions to promote student success and well-being. This position is typically scheduled Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required to support College programs and events. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist with local, state, and federal compliance requirements. Serves on institutional committees, task forces, and teams as assigned and appropriate. Assists in the management and administration of the student conduct process, including the investigation, adjudication, documentation, and resolution of conduct cases and the maintenance of all relevant conduct records in the conduct system database. Provides training on conduct systems and maintains/distributes Student Code of Conduct policies and procedures. Designs and implements integrated student learning opportunities and outreach efforts surrounding the Rules of Student Conduct, institutional behavioral expectations, and support and resource options/availability by utilizing restorative practices and educational interventions. Adjudicates cases of alleged instances of violations of the Rules of Student Conduct, with sanction authority up to, and including, expulsion while addressing student behavior, encouraging accountability, and making efforts to repair harm and strengthen community relationships. Recruits, coordinates, and trains hearing boards who will have sanctioning authority up to and including expulsion. These boards can include faculty, staff, and students. Serves as an institutional Deputy Title IX Coordinator assisting with the facilitation of Title IX prevention, awareness, response, and investigation processes. This includes conducting interviews, maintaining case records, facilitating Title IX training for faculty, staff, and students, and supporting the development of programs that promote a safe and respectful campus environment. Collects, analyzes, and prepares required data reports relevant to the activities of the department to assess effectiveness and support continuous improvement. Serves as an advocate for the students and its programs, except when instances of advocacy come into conflict with other position responsibilities. May supervise office procedures when necessary. Documents contact with students, interested parties, and/or agencies as required by program procedures.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. A Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field preferred. Additional training and education in the applicable administrative field is desirable. Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience is required, preferably within an institution of higher education. Two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience required. Experience in student conduct administration, restorative and behavioral intervention practices, mentoring and educational programming, along with experience in higher education software systems is preferred. Occasional evening and weekend availability. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Additional Information:
The minimum annual salary for this position is $68,361. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
