Director of CSTEP Job Description The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is a grant-funded program sponsored by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) to support talented students pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), licensed professions and health-related professions. CSTEP offers key preparation, resources and opportunities critical to student success. The Director of CSTEP oversees all aspects of the program, supervises the program staff, and works collaboratively with many offices on campus including, but not limited to, the Office of Instruction & Learning, the Grants Office, the Business Office, the Office of Opportunity Programs, and all areas of the Learning Commons.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure program compliance with
NYSED CSTEP
goals, regulations, and procedures, including the submission of interim and final reports to NYSED. Participate in the CSTEP Grant renewal effort, in collaboration with the Business Office, the Grants Office, the Office of Instruction & Learning, and NYSED. Provide strategic oversight, budget development and allocation and supervisory oversight for all program services designed to meet grant objectives. Submit budget amendments and required reports to NYSED as required. Maintain accurate auditable records and produce annual retention and other reports and meet all deadlines for the submission of all reports. Manage and reconcile program budgets and preparation of reports for NYSED and the College. Hire, train, and supervise CSTEP staff. Assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of student employees as needed. Design and manage CSTEP supervised research projects; mentor projects as needed. Recruit and pair CSTEP faculty mentors and students to conduct scientific research. Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with academic departments, faculty members and other college departments to ensure comprehensive delivery of service to students. Develop and implement activities, programs, resources, and appropriate intervention for CSTEP participants such as academic personal and professional seminars, faculty/professional interventions, research opportunities, and community services activities. Evaluate and assess programs and services provided by CSTEP. Make all provisions for student travel (college visits, research opportunities, travel, etc.). Accompany students as needed, or designate CSTEP staff to accompany students. Provide one-on-one academic counseling and advising to CSTEP students. Review participants' academic progress and devise intervention strategies. Collect, organize and analyze data on current CSTEP participants and program graduates. Identify and ensure regular participation in professional development activities, including but not limited to APACS conferences, CSTEP Regional Meetings, NYSED trainings. Consult with faculty, counseling center staff, and other college staff and administrators regarding strategies for students deemed at-risk. Conduct workshops related to mathematics, science, student success strategies, and technology literacy. Participate in shared governance meetings. Participate in recruitment, retention, and academic success initiatives for CSTEP students. Develop, facilitate, and ensure success for the CSTEP Summer Program that takes place between July and August for six weeks. Coordinate meetings of the CSTEP Advisory Committee to discuss issues and seek guidance for the program. All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a CSTEP-related field, or a related discipline. Minimum of three years of experience in higher education, program administration, or grant-funded programs, including the management and oversight of budgets. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in STEM education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in CSTEP-related field, counseling, higher education administration, public administration, or related discipline. Experience working with student opportunity programs, preferably CSTEP. Experience in creating, delivering, and assessing programming about students' academic, professional, and personal growth.
