Job Description
The Dean of Students is responsible for supporting a positive, safe, and structured school environment by overseeing student behavior, attendance, and student support systems as well as managing staff within the building. This role works collaboratively with administration, staff, students, and families to promote student success, address behavioral concerns, and foster a culture of accountability and respect. The Dean serves as a key leader in supporting students and school climate initiatives within the Millstream Career Center building as well as in conjunction with the Millstream Career Center CTPD.
Responsibilities:
Student Behavior & Discipline Manage student discipline in alignment with district policies and the student code of conduct. Investigate and respond to behavioral incidents, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes. Implement restorative practices and interventions to support student growth and reinforce clear behavioral expectations. Maintain accurate discipline records and documentation in alignment with state and district policies. Attendance & Student Accountability Monitor student attendance, analyze attendance data, and address truancy concerns. Collaborate with families, counselors, and outside agencies to improve attendance and address barriers to student presence. Develop, implement, and monitor the impact of attendance intervention plans. School Climate & Culture Promote a positive school climate focused on respect, responsibility, and inclusion. Lead and facilitate PBIS frameworks and team meetings. Build proactive relationships with students, staff, families, and stakeholders to address concerns and support engagement. Support staff with effective classroom management strategies and professional development. Student Support & Interventions Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and intervention teams to support students. Lead processes and facilitate student support meetings for interventions. Supervision & Operations Provide supervision in common areas such as hallways, labs, parking lots, and at school events. Supervise and support aides and staff, providing necessary training. Assist with arrival, dismissal, and general student flow throughout the day. Coordinate key operations such as programming and student activities. School Safety & Compliance Lead school safety efforts by coordinating drills, emergency procedures, and crisis response plans. Partner with local agencies to ensure staff and students are trained and compliant with safety requirements. Ensure adherence to district, state, and federal regulations related to student discipline and attendance. Any other duties as assigned by the director.Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Valid Ohio Administrative/Principal License. Minimum of 3+ years experience as an administrator. Minimum of 5+ years teaching experience at the secondary level. Strong understanding of student behavior management, restorative practices, and discipline practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze student data to drive behavior, attendance, and interventions. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Preferred:
Proven experience in implementing PBIS, MTSS, or restorative practice frameworks. Experience working with at-risk or diverse student populations. Training in conflict resolution, de-escalation, or crisis intervention.Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students throughout the school day; ability to move quickly in response to student situations or emergencies; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds; and ability to physically intervene when necessary in accordance with district policy.Working Conditions:
Fast-paced school environment with frequent interruptions and high student interaction; regular interaction with students in challenging or high-stress situations.Schedule:
School year contract; requires some extended hours, including evenings and weekends for school events, safety coordination, or disciplinary follow-up.
