Job Description

Position Title :
Director of Advancement Services and Annual Giving Reports to :
Vice President, Philanthropy & Alumni Relations Supervises:
Gift processing specialist; assistant director of annual giving Primary function: The Director of Advancement Services & Annual Giving provides strategic and operational leadership for the College's annual fundraising program and the advancement infrastructure that supports all philanthropic efforts. This position blends front-line fundraising strategy with behind-the-scenes operations, ensuring the College has strong donor participation, reliable data, effective reporting, and a culture of philanthropy. The Director oversees the annual fund, donor communications and solicitation strategy, advancement CRM, gift processing, reporting, and prospect research. The role works closely with the Vice President for Advancement and collaborates across Major Gifts, Alumni Relations, and Communications to build a sustainable pipeline of donors and increase alumni and donor participation.
Required Qualifications:
Strategic and analytical thinker Strong project and time management skills High attention to detail and integrity with confidential data Passion for mission-driven work and liberal arts education Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with CASE standards and fundraising metrics.
Education:
Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
5-8 years of experience in higher education advancement, annual giving, nonprofit fundraising, or CRM/data operations. Demonstrated success managing or supporting fundraising campaigns or annual funds. Experience with donor databases/CRM systems and reporting. Experience supervising staff. Experience managing Giving Day or multi-channel campaigns. Experience with business intelligence/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
Essential duties:
Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-channel annual giving strategy. Plan and execute all annual fund solicitations including: Direct mail Email and digital campaigns Giving Day Texting and social campaigns Reunion and class giving Manage segmentation and targeting strategies to grow donor participation. Create strategies to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors. Partner with Alumni Relations to integrate engagement and philanthropy. Provide oversight of the advancement database/CRM and data governance. Establish and maintain data standards, policies, and procedures. Oversee gift processing, receipting, and financial reconciliation. Ensure compliance with CASE standards and gift acceptance policies. Manage data integrations and collaborate with IT on system support. Produce reports and dashboards to support fundraising strategy and decision-making. Oversee prospect identification and wealth screening. Support portfolio development and moves management.
Other duties:
Track and report on: Annual fund performance and participation rates Campaign and pipeline metrics Alumni and parent giving trends Giving Day and appeal results Provide regular reports for department leadership, Administration, and Board of Directors. Provide research and briefing materials for gift officers and leadership. Ensure timely gift acknowledgments and stewardship communications. Collaborate with Marketing/Communications and Stewardship coordinator on donor-focused content. Supervise Advancement Services and Annual Giving staff and student workers. Manage vendors (wealth screening, mail houses, etc.). Provide training and support to PAR staff on CRM and reporting. Foster a culture of collaboration, service, and continuous improvement.
