Salary The management services offered to our family of charter schools, allows us to collectively become a change agent and national leader in urban education as evidenced by student awareness of self, high academic achievement, positive school culture and community transformation wherever we serve. Essential Functions Universal is seeking a dynamic and passionate Assistant Dean of Students to work in an urban setting in Philadelphia, PA . The Assistant Dean will work to create a warm and welcoming school culture that is driven by student achievement, and teachers are committed to high expectations and dedicated support for students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer student discipline and policies and procedures related to student conduct, discipline and student rights and responsibilities. Maintain building standards for student conduct, recommend suspensions and expulsions for administrative approval. Supervise students in lunchrooms, hallways, classes, on buses, activities and curricular program, and other programs held under sanction. Maintain liaison with parents on discipline and attendance matters. Contact parents as needed, conduct parent, student and teacher conferences on discipline and attendance. Maintain positive public and community relations. Conduct investigations related to student conduct and complaints. Coordinate with school security, police, parents, students, the community, and the public and other agencies. Provide recommendations to administrators as appropriate. Serves as a member of school leadership team, attend meetings, communicate information and participate in instructional development within the school. Provide a variety of insights, recommendations, and reports and assist in implementing building decisions. Cooperate with Principal and/or Assistant Principal and provide input to staff as appropriate. Monitor students during lunch periods. Qualifications/Requirements Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred Have 2 years of experience in a school setting, monitoring and supervising school climate and culture. Demonstrate commitment to the school's mission and success. Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community. Participate in training and professional development activities. Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating with peers. Abides by applicable policies and procedures and state and federal education regulations. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
