Position Summary:
The Dean of Health Sciences provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the University's Health Science degree and certificate programs. The Dean oversees academic quality, faculty leadership, curriculum management, student success initiatives, enrollment collaboration, and program growth across the Health Sciences portfolio. The Dean serves as the academic leader for Health Sciences and works collaboratively with the Provost, Registrar, Admissions, Institutional Effectiveness, Marketing, Student Services, and other university departments to ensure academic integrity, regulatory compliance, operational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. The Dean must be a student-centered, data-informed leader committed to academic excellence, retention, persistence, workforce readiness, and graduation outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership & Program Oversight
  • Provide leadership and oversight of all Health Science degree and certificate programs.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment, academic rigor, instructional quality, and consistency across all instructional modalities (online, hybrid, and face-to-face).
  • Lead curriculum review, revision, and program development initiatives in collaboration with faculty and the Office of the Provost.
  • Oversee course scheduling and faculty assignments to ensure appropriate instructional coverage and credential alignment.
  • Monitor course outcomes, student performance, and program effectiveness to support continuous improvement.
  • Support integration of workforce-aligned competencies, AI literacy, healthcare innovation, and career-readiness initiatives within Health Science curricula. Faculty Leadership
  • Recommend hiring, onboarding, mentoring, evaluating, and supporting faculty committed to student success and instructional excellence.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and support to full-time and adjunct faculty.
  • Ensure faculty compliance with university policies, academic standards, instructional expectations, and accreditor requirements.
  • Promote faculty engagement in assessment, program review, accreditation, and professional development activities. Student Success & Academic Operations
  • Utilize institutional data (retention metrics, D/F reports, completion rates, student feedback, and progression data) to inform decision-making and intervention strategies.
  • Collaborate with academic support services to identify and implement strategies that support student persistence, retention, and graduation.
  • Address student academic concerns and ensure timely resolution in alignment with university policy.
  • Support academic planning processes, including transfer credit review, individualized learning plans (ILPs), and student progression monitoring where applicable. Accreditation & Compliance
  • Support annual program review, institutional assessment, and institutional effectiveness processes.
  • Participate in accreditation and regulatory activities, including report writing, documentation collection, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure Health Science programs remain compliant with institutional, state, federal, and accreditor requirements.
  • Follow established systems, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory and operational alignment. Strategic Growth & External Engagement
  • Collaborate with Admissions and Marketing to ensure accurate program representation, competitive positioning, and enrollment growth strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion, innovation, partnership development, and workforce alignment.
  • Support community, healthcare, and industry engagement opportunities that strengthen Health Science programs and student outcomes.
  • Participate in university committees, leadership initiatives, and institutional planning efforts as needed.
Position Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate or terminal degree in Health Sciences, Healthcare, Education, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution required.
  • Prior experience in academic leadership (Program Director, Department Chair, Associate Dean, Dean, or similar leadership role) preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level required.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation, assessment, and higher education regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize data to support student success and operational decision-making.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across academic and administrative divisions.
  • Commitment to innovation, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced, growth-oriented university environment.
