Job Summary The LSA Residential College is hiring an Academic Program Manager to serve as Semester in Detroit Associate Director. Semester in Detroit transforms university students through reciprocal relationships with the people, organizations, and neighborhoods of Detroit. By living, learning, and working in the city, our students engage with community leaders in transformative work, strengthening themselves and the wider region. We partner with over 75 community organizations in Detroit and enroll students from UM-Ann Arbor, UM-Dearborn, UM-Flint, and Grand Valley State University. You can learn more about us at https://lsa.umich.edu/sid As Associate Director you will partner with the Semester in Detroit Faculty Director on strategic planning and curriculum development. You will be directly responsible for program administration, student internships, community partnerships, fundraising, and financial management. You will manage the Semester in Detroit Program Manager and report to the Residential College Community Programs Business Administrator. We are looking for someone with experience partnering with community organizations in Detroit, working directly with university students, and navigating the administration of multiple college campuses. Responsibilities• Be a strategic partner to the Semester in Detroit Faculty Director, making short- and long-term program plans and curricular enhancements. Manage one full-time professional staff member and temporary student employees. Recruit, select, and support university students for Semester in Detroit across four university campuses. Develop and deepen relationships with community partners, campus partners, and alumni. Oversee student internships, Semester in Detroit scholarships, and student financial aid distribution. Develop Semester in Detroit's annual budget, monitor expenses, and lead fundraising. Manage outreach and communication to university and external audiences. Required Qualifications• A Master's Degree in a related field or equivalent training and experience. Five or more years of administration experience. Five years of experience working with nonprofit organizations in a large city, either as an employee or as a university partner. Three years of experience managing off-campus living-learning programs. Experience in university teaching and curriculum development. Experience working at or collaborating with multiple college campuses. Supervisory experience. Experience communicating across multiple institutional cultures and with a variety of people. Additional Information This position will have a hybrid work schedule, with in-person work required in Detroit and on the UM-Ann Arbor campus. This position will supervise a position included in the bargaining unit represented by the University Staff United (USU). The salary range for this position is $61,000 to $76,300, please note a higher salary may be offered for highly qualified candidates.
