Position Summary The Assistant Director (AD) for Residence Life will be responsible for developing,anizing, and delivering an exceptional residence life program that seeks to provide connection, support, service, and educational opportunities for students who live on campus. Crucial to this position will be a relational and developmental philosophy to the residence life approach with a strong commitment towards student success and creating a welcoming environment. Directly supervising three professional residence life staff and indirectly overseeing twenty resident assistants, the AD will coordinate RA training and ongoing educational opportunities for all resident assistants and professional residence life staff, responding and intervening in crisis situations, serving in an after-hours on-call rotation, assisting with student conduct, coordinating departmental assessment efforts, residence life budgeting, and developing departmental programming initiatives. This position will work closely with the Associate Dean of Student Life and Wellbeing / Director, Housing and Residence Life to ensure the department and staff are supporting the mission and outcomes of the department and division. It will be crucial for this individual to develop and maintain strong partnerships across campus including faculty, administrators, and academic and student success departments. This position is a live-off position and considered the primary backup for the Associate Dean of Student Life and Wellbeing / Director, Housing and Residence Life. The AD will provide expert advice and consultation to the associate dean on residence life and facilities related matters which include (but are not limited to) programming, educational initiatives, staffing, maintenance and facilities projects, and budgets.

Coordinate employee recruitment and training processes for professional residence life and maintenance staff, as well as student paraprofessional staff.
Directly supervise professional Residence Life Coordinator staff members and provide indirect oversight for student paraprofessional staff.
Coordinate training and ongoing development opportunities for all residence life staff. This includes coordination of in-service opportunities and workshops based on the needs of students, staff, the division and/or the University.
Oversee the evaluation process for staff using university and division standards.
Collaborate with other offices and resources in the Omaha community in educating and training the staff to university and industry standards.
Liaison with Scott Residential Management Residence Life staff as needed. Percentage Of Time 30

Conduct and Crisis Intervention
Duties:
Collaborate with UNO Care Team on follow-up in the residence halls for students of concern, crisis intervention, and mediation.
Coordinate the revision of the Residence Life Community Polices annually.
Serve in an on-call rotation and response for after-hours emergencies communicating with other university officials as needed.
Serve as a conduct officer for investigating and adjudicating alleged violations of the student code of conduct as needed/assigned
Facilitate regular meetings with HRL staff and campus partners to discuss students and incidents of concern and develop appropriate strategies for intervention and support. Percentage Of Time 20

Duties:
Participate in the overall administration of the residence life program representing the department on various committees and at various events. Attend staff meetings.
Coordinate and manage departmental assessment projects and annual reporting of assessment outcomes.
Provide ongoing and annual reports to divisional and university leadership regarding the work of HRL staff and departmental accomplishments as requested.
Serve on the Housing and Residence Life leadership team.

Duties:
Facilitate the development and implementation of a curriculum-based programming model in the residential facilities based on divisional priorities of the co-curricular learning outcomes, student success and retention, and commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all residential students.
Coordinate leadership development opportunities such as the Residence Hall Association, the National Residence Hall Honorary, and establishment of a faculty/staff advisory board.
Provide strengths-based leadership and coaching opportunities for residential students and staff.
Coordinate oversight of living-learning and themed housing communities.
Ensure that the residence life staff models the values of relationship and connection and coordinate multiple meaningful outreach opportunities to each campus resident multiple times throughout the resident's contract period.
