Assistant Director for
RESIDENCE LIFE
Learn More About PC About PC History, Mission, & Plan Benefits & Resources Position Overview The Assistant Director for Residence Life is a 12-month, full-time, live-on, and exempt position requiring regular interaction with students, including nights and weekends as part of an "on call" duty rotation. The position reports directly to the Senior Director of Residence Life and works collaboratively with a second AD. As a member of the Student Affairs staff, the AD will help foster the overall wellbeing, academic success, and personal and social development of undergraduate residential students in a welcoming community.
Primary Responsibilities Residential Facility Administration:
help coordinate hall openings and closings, oversee room furniture and key inventories, maintain regular office hours, address and refer out maintenance concerns, assist with housing selection, and handle other tasks relative to facility management. The position will directly oversee a community of approximately 500 residential students.
Student Staff Supervision and Development:
assist with all aspects of staff selection, lead and actively participate in staff training exercises, conduct regular meetings with staff, administer employee discipline when necessary, and assist with central office projects for a staff of approximately 30 Resident Assistants (RAs). The position will directly supervise 13-15 RAs.
Institutional Liaison/Referral:
serve on assigned committees, serve as a resource person for needed referrals, and establish and maintain a rapport with other Student Affairs staff.
Community Development:
build connection with students, supervise community programming efforts by RA staff, adjudicate cases as required by Student Conduct, facilitate conflict mediation, and support the enforcement of institutional policies. Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Master's Degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field strongly preferred Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of two years' experience within a residence life/housing position in a college/university setting required Knowledge of current practices in student development Ability to develop positive and proactive relationships with students and colleagues and recognize the importance of community and cross-campus collaboration Able to act independently and react appropriately in policy enforcement and crisis situations Possess excellent time management and organizational skills; be adept with technology Familiarity with Google Docs, NCBI, Banner, Adirondack, and Maxient is beneficial To Apply Interested applicants should send a resume, cover letter, and three professional references to reslife@presby.edu.
