Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The College of Business has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years and offers BSBA , MBA and MSA degrees to approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. Approximately 500+ additional students are completing the business minor. The College of Business includes departments of accounting, finance, marketing and supply chain, management, and management information systems as well as the Miller School of Entrepreneurship and the School of Hospitality Leadership. The College employs approximately 140 faculty members and 45 staff members. The Finance Department within the College of Business has 24 faculty members and offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Primary Purpose of Position

: Open only to applicants currently employed by East Carolina University The College of Business is seeking applications for the position of Chairperson of the Department of Finance and Insurance available beginning January 2027. The Department Chair is a faculty appointment that includes teaching, research, and service with administrative duties. The chairperson will be an effective leader, an accomplished and enthusiastic teacher and scholar, and have a broad view of finance and its role in the present and future. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: administrative and academic leadership; support for excellent education programs and scholarly contribution; teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level; planning the department course schedule and teaching assignments; working with the academic advisors to meet the needs of the students; serving on committees as needed; conducting annual performance evaluations of departmental faculty; providing service to a range of constituents; seeking external funding opportunities and any other organizational and administrative duties as assigned. The successful candidate will promote accountability through program assessment and accreditation maintenance. The chairperson reports to the Dean of the College, and is expected to work effectively with academic deans, directors, other department chairs, and staff. Contingent upon available funding. Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience The chairperson shall possess the credentials, experience, and documented achievements appropriate for appointment as a tenured Associate Professor or Professor in the department, including a PhD or DBA in Finance or related degree.
