Job Purpose:
Responsible for the leadership and management of the Department. Teaches a reduced load within the department.Job Functions:
LEADERSHIP
Provide vision, direction, and planning for the department; participate in strategic planning and operational initiatives; ensures department is poised to meet and adapt to emerging needs; ensures plans, goals, objectives, and budget align with strategic plans; support the development and delivery of high-quality, student centered education with relevant offerings and scalable high impact practices; supports instructional research, assessment practices, and key performance drivers in the development and evaluation of department activities; leads efforts to create, develop, and implement new, relevant programs while strengthening current programs; and provide leadership in absence of Dean.EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT
Cultivate a high performing team and provide development, coaching, and evaluation while building a culture of continuous improvement; maintain a culture that fosters learning, collaboration, and motivation for employees to gain new skills; ensures employees have FPMS with individualized development plans; ensure employee decisions correlate to program and division needs and adhere to the College's service standards.DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT
Perform functions for the successful development and delivery of courses and curricula; forecast, develop, and manage all resources according to policy and procedure; assign instructors to courses and training sites; monitor and review academic programs to ensure accreditation and assessment requirements are met; monitor health of program/s; develop and report on prioritized goals and objectives; monitor course updates for program goals, competencies, and objectives.STUDENT SUCCESS AND SUPPORT
Drive department-level student support structures and initiatives; address and resolve student concerns and complaints; serve as academic advisor; develop, implement, and monitor student success activities and interventions; track faculty interactions with students outside of the classroom to ensure evidence of advice, student success, and academic standing; maintain records on student retention; participate in student activities; maintain office hours to allow for student interaction outside of the classroom.TEACH:
Teach assigned courses using systematically planned and delivered instruction; ensure timely and accurate feedback for students; ensure students are aware of and have access to support and materials to help them be successful; and adopt and apply a continuous improvement mindset towards improving student learning.OTHER:
Performs other duties as assigned. Candidates must have minimum of a Master degree in a relevant field to the health professions discipline. Candidates with doctorate degree (Ph.D., Ed.D or other) relevant to the discipline are preferred. Candidates with previous supervisory experience especially in clinical setting are preferred.
