Job Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Residence Life, the Assistant Director of Residence Life is an integral member of the staff of theDivision of Campus Life & Student Development (CLSD). The Assistant Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration of theresidence life program and supervision of four Residence Life Coordinators (RLCs). The Assistant Director will encourage a supportive andinclusive environment aligned with the values of Wofford College. The Assistant Director is a 12-month, full-time appointment, andreappointment is contingent upon an annual satisfactory performance evaluation. Normal hours are 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday;however, hours will vary widely including working evening and weekends, contingent on campus activities and special events. Minimal workinghours will be 40/week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Education
  • 40%
  • Broadly oversee the residentialeducation program, including the RA staff and cocurricular programming, primarily through the supervision of the Residence Life Coordinators(RLCs)
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and training of Resident Assistants and Residence Life Coordinators
  • Act assupervisor on record for Resident Assistants, ensuring the completion of payroll and employment forms
  • Oversee residence lifecomponents academic initiatives, effectively fostering the expansion of these programs
  • Promote Residence Life initiatives andexpand campus impact of the residential program
  • Serve on the campus-wide CARE team to triage students in need of additionalresources or support Student Conduct

  • Uphold and enforce applicable laws as well as college and officepolicies
  • Adjudicate student conduct issues through conduct meetings, mediations, and coordination of judicial hearings
  • Serve as a point of contact for residential violations alongside Residence Life Coordinators, coordinating adjudication of health and safetyviolations, pet violations, vandalism, etc.
  • Oversee administrative aspects of residential conduct including management of cases,IRs, CRFs, and sanctions using Maxient conduct software. Housing Operations & Administration

  • Provide excellentcustomer service to members of the community engaging with the Office of Residence Life through walk-ins, phone calls, and the departmentalemail ( reslife@wofford.edu )
  • Lead the Office of Residence Life in the absence of theDirector of Residence Life
  • Assist students with roommate concerns, room change requests, and other housing issues when issues growbeyond the scope of RLCs
  • Assist with aspects of housing operations, including housing lottery, housing assignments, roommateassignments, and hall opening and closing, supporting the Director of Residence Life as needed
  • Serve as a general systemadministrator for eRezLife software, with a primary focus on residence education components Campus Life & Student Development

  • Serve on relevant CLSD and college committees, as need
  • Contribute to a healthy and positive workplace bysupporting campus colleagues and CLSD programs and events
  • Serve in the CLSD on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field and minimum of 2 yearsof experience working in residence life, student development, or closely related fields (intern/graduate experience will be considered); ORequivalent combination of education and experience 2. Effective computer proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Officeapplications 3. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and respond effectively in high-stress or crisis situations 4. Demonstratedaptitude for working and communicating effectively in a professional manner 5. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverseeducational environment and workplace and an ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty and student populations
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with housing/residence life software (direct experience with eRezLife is highly desirable) 2. Experience directly supervising professional staff and/or graduate students 3. Effective experience with living-learningcommunities and other residence life/academic partnerships 4. Experience in an on-call rotation and/or with crisis response 5.Knowledge of relevant higher education applications and software (including Banner) 6. Demonstrated commitment to the values andgoals of a residential, liberal arts college

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
