Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes. 1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program. 2. Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget. 3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance. 4. May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation. 5. Reviews reports of budgets and activities. 6. Prepares ad hoc reports as needed. 7. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations. 8. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures. 9. May serve as property custodian for the department. 10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The Program Manager at the UH STEM Center plays a key role in designing, implementing, and evaluating innovative
K-20 STEM
education programs. This position supports a broad portfolio of initiatives that engage students, educators, and community partners, with the goal of strengthening STEM pathways from kindergarten through postsecondary education. The Program Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, school districts, higher education partners, and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality program delivery and measurable impact.
Additional Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of
K-20 STEM
education programs and initiatives. Develop and maintain partnerships with K-12 schools, community colleges, universities, and community organizations. Manage program timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements across multiple projects. Oversee program evaluation efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on outcomes and impact. Supervise program staff, interns, and student workers as assigned. Coordinate professional development workshops and events for educators and students. Support grant proposal development and assist in grant management and compliance. Represent the STEM Center at meetings, conferences, and outreach events. Supervise and manage the STEM Center's social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement. Coordinate and oversee the UH STEM Center Student Outreach Squad, including outreach activities, training, social engagement, mentorship, and academic support. Facilitate both formal and informal outreach activities that promote STEM engagement across K-20 audiences. Provide support for evening and/or weekend programming as needed. Establish and maintain relationships with faculty and staff across all colleges, serving as a programmatic liaison to develop and sustain collaborative initiatives. Work closely with academic departments, student organizations, and community partners to enhance college engagement and provide comprehensive support services. Experience will be considered in lieu of education. Education will be considered in lieu of experience.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
