Job Description
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, providing information, advice, and assistance regarding various types of Federal and State financial aid available to student, and assiststhe Director of Financial Aid in the day-to-day operations of the department. This position also represents the college in the absence of the Director of Financial Aid.
This is an exempt position that reports to LSCPA's Student Services Department. Analyze student applications and determine eligibility for financial aid; request additional documents as needed Verify information from student's tax returns Advise students concerning reasonable academic progress, determine whether or not a student is in violation, discuss normal procedures to get out of violation, and recommend appeal procedures for unusual circumstances Determine eligibility and select students for State Grant programs Perform the student loan process in Banner to submit to COD; perform loan reconciliation Provide veterans information concerning benefits, eligibility, and application procedures on Montgomery G. I benefit and Texas Hazelwood Act Collect data, determine which classes apply to degree programs and provide paperwork to Certifying Official for final review and processing Determine Hazelwood Act eligibility and exemption Perform Return of Title IV process to return funds to COD; inform students of overpayment Counsel student and parents; Conduct Financial Aid workshops and presentations for students, parents, and constituent Assist in supervising the financial aid staff Comply with campus policies and procedures Other related duties, as assigned
