Job Description

Rowing Club Program Director Advertising/Posting Title Rowing Club Program Director Posting Summary The University seeks a dedicated leader to serve as Head Coach and Program Director for its intercollegiate club rowing program during the 9‑month academic year. This role works with the student-led club team to oversee all aspects of operations within the educational mission of the University, the Department of Student Life, and the Student Government Association (SGA). The coach will educate student‑athletes on the value of sport, foster competitive readiness for US Rowing events, and ensure full compliance with University, SGA, and US Rowing regulations. Key responsibilities include planning and leading practices, preparing for competitions, evaluating athletes, supervising part‑time assistant coaches, and managing risk and safety protocols. The coach will also support student leadership development, coordinate student engagement efforts, understand team finances, and engage in public relations on behalf of the program. Attendance at competitions—including safely towing rowing shells—is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the University's Our Common Ground values and contribute to a positive, growth‑oriented team environment. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor's degree and one to three years of related experience required. Previous collegiate rowing experience, or equivalent competitive sport background, required. USRowing Level 2 coach certification required, or ability to obtain in first 3-months on job. First-Aid, CPR, AED certification required. Ability to rig, prepare, and transport rowing shells for competitive performance required. Operation of outboard motor and launch. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and motivate students required. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work successfully with diverse populations including students, faculty, administrators, staff, and community members. Desirable Qualifications Familiarity with University policies, standards, and procedures in related areas desirable. Lifeguard or on-water safety training and experience highly desirable. Experience working with university-level students highly desirable.
