Through our programs, students explore the outdoors, connect with their peers, discover themselves and develop a lasting relationship with science and the environment around them.
What You Will Do:
The Olympic Education Manager coordinates the administration of overnight environmental science programming in Olympic National Park. The Education Manager plays a signifi cant role in supervising, supporting, training, and coaching Environmental Science Educators in curriculum and program logistics. They support day-to-day program operations by working closely with the other members of the administrative team. This position is full-time, exempt, reports to the Olympic Education Director, and is based in Port Angeles, Washington.

This position takes place at our campus in Olympic National Park and cannot be performed remotely.

Your primary job will be to:

Supervision, Coaching & Professional Development Directly supervise up to 13 Environmental Science Educators, and indirectly supervise an additional 4 Environmental Science EducatorsDocument and support Educator professional development through observation, coaching, and performance reviewCollaborate to coordinate, implement, and evaluate Educator training and in-services with the Education TeamFacilitate payroll for direct reports and other educators as neededPromote and enhance knowledge of scientific content, inquiry-based teaching competency, and Social-Emotional Learning through the implementation and evaluation of educator trainings and programmingCoordinate with the Facilities department to support Educator housing placements and resolve situations as they ariseMaintain, organize, order, and issue first aid kits, educator uniforms, student loaner gear, and all teaching suppliesOversight of Mentor Educators, including hiring, training, and coachingProgram SupportDaily on-campus presence is required.

Provide daily management and oversight of the program, to include serving as day manager on a rotating basis, running morning meetings, answering phone calls, and checking in with field staff at the end of the day. Substitute for educators in the field, being available to teach with short noticeSupport NatureBridge initial response in the event of an emergency by being available on radio for emergencies and general field supportLeadership & CollaborationCollaborate and share responsibilities with other leaders on the
Olympic Education Team:
ensuring the high-quality implementation of education goals and adherence to the NatureBridge Theory of Change in all programsset the agenda for education program meetings and morning meetingsCollaborate within the Education team in staff development and curriculum design and maintain knowledge of NGSS and current trends in formal and informal educationUsing the NatureBridge EI&D Framework as a guide, regularly engage in personal and professional goal setting and growth in equity and inclusion, and share learningsMonitor customer and educator feedback in collaboration with Sales & Operations to ensure follow-up with customers and staff and close the feedback loopSupport the campus work community by:building and fostering positive work-community interactionsestablishing and maintaining respectful, supportive, and compassionate relationships with staff, volunteers, and participants cultivating and modeling an inclusive and culturally responsive professional learning communitymodeling NatureBridge Core Values, including having and promoting a growth mindsetSupport the Program Risk Manager in oversight of field risk managementPresent with confidence in front of a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, board members, staff and the general publicWork in partnership with the education/interpretation leaders from both NPS and Park Partner organizations in the Olympic National Park to leverage and strengthen the NatureBridge-NPS partnershipSupport the ongoing development and strengthening of partnerships with schools and community organizationsPerforms other duties as assigned in support of NatureBridge programming, including but not limited to:

Coordinate with the hiring team and Human Resources to support hiring new EducatorsSupporting donor engagement events, program support tasks, providing feedback on special projects, participating in campus beautification or attending conferences
Compensation:

Who You Are:
We are looking for candidates who have:

Experience supervising and/or coaching educators, and developing professional development for educatorsStrong pedagogical foundations in experiential learning, thematic teaching, and curriculum development Demonstrated commitment to workplace equity & inclusionAt least three years of programming experience in outdoor/environmental/science educationKnowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards, trends in community science, BEETLES frameworks and their integration into educational programmingStrong organizational skills and efficient project and time managementAbility to communicate information quickly and accuratelyAbility to manage and support teams of diverse people; prioritizes relationship-building and professional integrityAbility to implement and model effective risk management practicesAbility to approach self and others with a growth mindsetAbility to effectively communicate information and present with confidence in front of a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, board members, staff and the general publicBachelors degree in environmental science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experienceValid Wilderness First Responder and CPR or ability to obtain prior to starting the positionValid Drivers LicenseIf you are interested in the role and do not meet every requirement listed, please still apply!
