Job Description
Be the first step in someone's recovery journey. Every admission begins with a conversation. Pathways To A Better Life is seeking a compassionate, organized, detail-oriented Intake Screener to guide individuals through the admissions process while coordinating with clinical, financial, and medical teams to ensure each client receives the services most appropriate for their needs. This position serves as the central communication hub between prospective clients, families, referral sources, insurance providers, clinicians, and internal departments. Position Overview The Intake Screener gathers and organizes the information necessary for the clinical and financial teams to determine admission appropriateness and prepare for a successful intake. This role requires exceptional communication skills, critical thinking, organization, and the ability to balance multiple cases while providing compassionate customer service during what is often one of the most difficult times in a person's life. Responsibilities Conduct intake screenings with prospective clients and referral sources Collect demographic, clinical, legal, financial, and social history information Obtain collateral information from family members, treatment providers, probation agents, hospitals, and referral sources Verify insurance coverage and gather financial information Coordinate clinical and financial approvals with internal departments Review medication information and help ensure prescriptions and refills are in place before admission Communicate with clients throughout the admission process Maintain accurate documentation within electronic health records Collaborate closely with clinical, residential, and financial teams Ideal Candidate We're looking for someone who: Enjoys helping people during stressful situations Is highly organized and detail-oriented Communicates professionally with a wide variety of people Can prioritize multiple admissions simultaneously Works well independently while collaborating across departments Has excellent phone, computer, and documentation skills Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, healthcare admissions, case management, social work, insurance verification, or medical office settings is preferred but not required.
