GUIDE POSITION
SOAR (Supporting Opportunities for Achieving Results) Classroom Assistant
QUALIFICATION
High School Diploma or GED Must meet
Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Status:
48 Semester hours of college coursework OR an Associate's Degree OR passing scores on the WorkKeys assessment (Business Writing, Applied Math, Workplace Documents) Current and active application Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Acceptable fingerprinting/background review conducted by Fieldprint
REPORTS TO
Principal
JOB GOAL
To assist counselors, teachers and administrators in working with at-risk students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support students with academic, behavior, and/or social/emotional strategies in a small group setting Provide tutoring one-on-one or in small groups to address learning gaps. Assist students in developing proper behavior/study habits Prepare for students assigned, show written evidence of preparation upon request of principal at the local school, and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning. Keep accurate, complete records and evaluate student progress as required by law, board policy and administrative regulations. Take reasonable precautions to protect students and to safeguard all information, equipment, materials, and facilities. Accept no other employment which interferes with the efficient and effective discharge of job duties and responsibilities. Abide by the standards established by the Talladega County Board of Education for professional and personal conduct of teachers. Uphold and enforce Talladega County Board of Education policy. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Promote good public relations for the Talladega County School System. Maintain confidentiality in all school-related matters. Other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the Principal.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position is not eligible for tenure or nonprobationary classified status under the Students First Act. The position is terminable at will. Nine month term. Salary according to proper placement on current salary schedule.
