JOB OVERVIEW
Provide specialized service and support to students for the purpose/s of developing the students' ability to effectively perform courses of study in the English language, assess and encourage student progress and manage the learning environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content and Illinois State Standards Design specific learning plan for each assigned student in the bilingual program and ensure that the education program is consistent with the total educational philosophy of the district Administer tests and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students' language ability Assess students' progress, expectations, goals, etc. in the bilingual program for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration Develop and deliver lesson plans utilizing appropriate instructional techniques Design specific learning plans for each assigned student with the anticipated goal of student success in the mainstream classroom Communicate effectively wihtin the educational community and with parents on a regular basis Collaborate and participate with the building teams rearding individual students in the school This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by employees assigned to this position and is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Letters of application Recommendations and/or references Ability to work as a team member and previous experience with elementary age children is preferred Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, a valid Illinois Elementary Teaching Certificate, which includes endorsements in ESL and
BILINGUAL
education Applicants must be able to demonstrate Highly Qualified status per No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Past experience teaching the specific class will be considered first. If no previous teaching experience in the specific class, recent coursework or student teaching in the subject will be considered. The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred
