Job Description

Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese Abides by the Confidentiality Policy set forth in the Diocese Employee Handbook Plans for instruction with a scope and sequence, which will guide students toward high achievement according to the local school policy Provides appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning Uses effective instructional methods/models according to professional standard practice which should include hands-on lessons and digital platforms Uses varied assessment tools to perform both formative and summative assessments Provides instruction and assessment for understanding Creates a learning environment which fosters creativity, energy, and excellence Maintains current and accurate gradebook and student data according to school policy Practices positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom Communicates with parents regarding academic, behavioral, or safety concerns Communicates with parents on a regular basis through newsletters and the school website Meets staff development guidelines as set for by the Diocese and local administration Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school, students, and staff
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree Meets the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by Diocese and State of Indiana Keys to Literacy Certification The salary is based on the Diocesan Teacher Salary Scale A first grade teacher is responsible for teaching and supporting students' academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth during an important stage of their development.
