POSITION OVERVIEW
Morehouse Parish School District is seeking a knowledgeable and student-centered Secondary Social Studies Teacher to support academic excellence at Bastrop High School, a Title I campus dedicated to equity and student achievement. The ideal candidate will deliver standards-aligned, inquiry-based instruction that promotes historical analysis, geographic literacy, and civic responsibility while preparing students for college, career, and informed citizenship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver standards-aligned instruction based on Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies Design and implement engaging, inquiry-based lessons across history, geography, economics, and civics Promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and analysis of primary and secondary sources Foster civic engagement and global awareness Integrate literacy, writing, and research skills within social studies instruction Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment aligned with PBIS expectations Integrate instructional technology and digital resources Collaborate with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) Ensure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Section 504, and district policies Engage families and stakeholders to support student success
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Social Studies (Grades 6-12 or appropriate endorsement) or eligibility through an LDOE-approved pathway Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards for Social Studies Demonstrated skills in classroom management, differentiation, and data-driven instruction Understanding of federal and state education laws (FERPA, IDEA, Section 504) Proficiency with instructional technology and student data systems Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Commitment to equity, student achievement, and continuous professional growth Candidates enrolled in an approved Teacher Preparation Program must provide proof of enrollment, completed coursework, and official Praxis exam scores (if applicable)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Social Studies, education, or related field 1-3 years of teaching experience at the secondary level (grades 9-12 preferred) Experience in a Title I school setting or working with diverse populations Knowledge of Louisiana accountability systems and graduation pathways Experience with MTSS/RTI, progress monitoring, and data analysis Strong background in inquiry-based or project-based instruction Experience supporting diverse learners Participation in PLCs or collaborative instructional teams
