Experience and skills in curriculum development, classroom management, and pedagogy are a must. Faculty members must have sufficient energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to excel in this fast-paced school setting.
Responsibilities include:
Teach four sections of History
Exhibit a personal and communal understanding of their role
and responsibilities
Exhibit effective time management skills related to a range of activities from being on time to prompt return of student work
Plan and facilitate department meetings
Attend and participate in regular instructional leadership team meetings with principal, vice principals and chairs
Oversee all history and social studies curriculum, textbooks, and resources
(Grades 7-12)
Regularly observe and meet with teachers within the department to coach instructional practices
Manage the departmental budget
Participate in the hiring process of history and social studies faculty
Exhibit effective time management skills related to a range of activities from being on time to prompt return of student work
Value collegiality
Participate actively in grade level and other faculty meetings
Seek collaborative opportunities actively both within and across disciplines
Demonstrate self-reflection and critical practice
