The Morse School serves children and families from every Cambridge neighborhood and from over 40 different countries. At the Morse School, we nurture not only our children's curiosity and intellectual skills, but also their healthy social and emotional development. Morse School families, teachers, and staff members work together to foster a sense of safety and belonging and to support students in developing a sense of civic responsibility and an appreciation for people with different origins, identities, beliefs, and learning styles. The Morse School follows an inclusion model, with English learners and students with moderate disabilities learning alongside their general education peers with support from special educators, ESL teachers, related service providers, and interventionists. The Morse School is seeking a talented grade 1 teacher to join our caring and innovative learning community. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Morse School and be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting, and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies, including district-wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs Integrating social learning into the classroom will work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community Partner with families and include them in the students' learning and development, as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizationsYour Skill Set:
As the incoming Grade 1 Teacher, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred At least two years of full-time classroom instruction Massachusetts State Early Childhood certification is required Experience working in an urban educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds, is preferred A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel PS# 4354Salary:
