This position includes teaching four sections of 7th Grade Bible and one section of 7th Grade History. The ideal candidate will foster an engaging, supportive, and Christ-centered learning environment that encourages academic growth, spiritual development, and meaningful classroom participation. This role is designed to provide continuity for students during the teacher's absence. Lesson plans, instructional materials, and curriculum resources will be provided, allowing the substitute teacher to focus on delivering engaging instruction, supporting student learning, and maintaining a positive classroom environment. The successful candidate will present biblical principles and historical content in a clear, effective, and age-appropriate manner while encouraging critical thinking, character development, and a love of learning. The ideal candidate will be committed to building positive relationships with students, maintaining established classroom routines and expectations, and supporting students' academic achievement and spiritual growth. This individual will partner with parents, faculty, and administration to cultivate a safe, nurturing, and supportive learning environment that reflects GRACE's mission, values, and Statement of Faith throughout the duration of the assignment. Job Purpose The teacher shall prayerfully help students develop the attitudes, skills, and knowledge that contribute to their growth as mature, capable, and responsible Christian men and women, to the praise and glory of God. Spiritual Qualifications & Expectations The teacher shall: Profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and affirm GRACE's Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Model a Christ-centered lifestyle in attitude, speech, and conduct both in and out of school. Integrate biblical principles and a biblical worldview into all instruction and student interactions. Encourage students in their spiritual growth through prayer, Scripture, discipleship, and Christlike example. Partner with families, recognizing parents as primarily responsible before God for their child's education. Follow biblical principles, including Matthew 18, in communication and conflict resolution. Support and actively participate in the spiritual and community life of the school. Essential Responsibilities Instruction Deliver instruction for four sections of 7th Grade Bible and one section of 7th Grade History using provided lesson plans, curriculum materials, and instructional resources. Present biblical principles, Christian doctrine, and historical content in a clear, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. Facilitate classroom discussions and learning activities that encourage critical thinking, participation, and student engagement. Differentiate instruction as needed to support the learning needs of diverse students. Utilize instructional technology and educational resources to enhance student learning and classroom engagement. Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and communicate relevant academic or behavioral concerns to administration as appropriate. Foster students' academic growth, character development, and spiritual formation within a Christ-centered learning environment. Build positive relationships with students and create a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom culture. Maintain established classroom routines, expectations, and instructional continuity during the teacher's maternity leave. Communication & Collaboration Communicate regularly and professionally with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom activities. Collaborate with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events. School & Professional Responsibilities Maintain a safe, orderly, and attractive classroom environment. Adhere to school policies, procedures, and the employee handbook. Always maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Supervise students and school activities as assigned. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, flexibility, and emotional maturity. Engage in ongoing professional growth and reflective practice. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School or Principal.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Prior teaching experience highly preferred. Strong organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of child development appropriate to the assigned grade level.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing or sitting, classroom mobility, bending as needed to assist students, and lifting to 15 pounds. The staff member has read this Job Description and agrees to abide by the requirements listed. The staff member will become familiar with both the Faculty/Staff Manual and Parent/Student Handbook and agrees to abide by them, as well as any additions made during the year. He/she agrees to cooperate in every way with the school authorities and adhere to the policies adopted by the GRACE Board of Trustees. Failure to do so may result in probation, fines, suspension without pay, or termination of employment. The staff member agrees to follow the biblical pattern of Matthew 18:15-17 and Galatians 6:1 and always give a good report, refraining from negative criticism and murmuring. All differences are to be resolved by utilizing biblical principles.
