Job Description:
Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY, is accepting applications for an adjunct instructor in our Business Administration program to teach classes in Accounting. BUS-105
Financial Accounting:
Financial Accounting is an introduction to accounting as a means of recording business activities. The course includes a study of the classification and recording of original business transactions, the preparation and evaluation of financial statements, and the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The course will incorporate appropriate computer technology in the instruction process BUS-106
Managerial Accounting:
An introduction to the fundamentals of managerial accounting emphasizing the collection, management and use of accounting information in the decision-making process within an organization. Topics include a comparison of the different types of organizations and the impact on their financial statements, long term debt and equity transactions reporting and analysis of cash flows, procedures necessary to determine product costs, break-even analysis, profit planning, and cost analysis. The course will incorporate appropriate computer technology in the instruction process.
Prerequisite:
BUS-105. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and present lectures Meet with students as needed to answer questions Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams Compute grades and submit them on time
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency in Accounting, Business, Finance, Management, or related field, or bachelor's degree in accounting with Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certificate. Course is taught on campus face-to-face instruction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience teaching Accounting at the college level with LMS experience. CPA applicants preferred. Course is taught on campus face-to-face instruction Able to teach during the day, however, can be an evening schedule 6pm - 7:25pm Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
Additional Information:
Adjunct rate of pay for the 26/27 academic year is $1,527/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment. Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
