Job Description

This job incumbent teaches an assigned course load and advises and assists the Department Chair regarding online needs, preparation and documentation. This is an onsite central campus work location who manages a group of online instructors. Master's Degree - 18 graduate hours in program area(s) of coordinator focus: English, Modern Languages, Speech 5 years teaching experience at the post-secondary level preferably in CTC district. 1 year in a managerial or supervisory setting. Highly skilled in instructional area. Ability to communicate well and to utilize appropriate delivery systems. Ability to keep accurate and complete records. Ability to oversee workspaces (such as Blackboard, etc.) used in departmental instruction. Ability to interact with and direct employees. Ability to communicate effectively with the Department Chair. Teach assigned courses in accordance with the approved course master syllabus and college policy. Collaborate with & advise colleagues regarding update and revising course content, instructional materials and teaching and assessment methodologies. Maintain familiarity with current texts, materials, teaching aids and techniques relative to courses. Actively seek new ways to improve instruction and assessment. Actively participate in discipline, department and college-wide task forces and committees. Attend scheduled discipline, department and college-wide meetings. Actively participate in assisting the college to maintain standards required for accreditation. Maintain general knowledge of degree requirements, programs and course transfer information. Contribute to and participate in faculty professional development programs. Complete the online certification training prior to conducting any Distance Learning class. Follow CTC faculty/student policy as it applies. Perform other duties as assigned in consultation with the Department Chair. Advises Department Chair regarding faculty and equipment needs. Evaluates online adjuncts as required by Human Resource policy. Assists with screening potential instructional personnel and hiring activities as requested and assigned by the Department Chair.
